Gautam Adani (born 24 June 1962) is an Indian business magnate and the founder and chairman of the Adani Group, a global company specializing in port construction and operations in India. After Adani Enterprises, Adani Green Energy, and Adani Transmission, Adani Power was the fourth firm from Adani’s ports-to-energy complex to join GQG’s portfolio.. Adani from a very young age had the ability to manage a business. After his second year, he left college to pursue a career.

He was one of seven children born to impoverished parents. His father was a textile merchant. Adani moved to Mumbai in order to work as a diamond sorter. His initial role lasted around 2-3 years, but by then, he had grasped the complexities of the organization and how it would change with the market. His professional talents aided him in the business of  diamond brokerage. It was his first step into the business world.

When his brother, Mahasukh Adani, invited him back to Ahmedabad to work at the plastics company he had started, his life took a new turn. Gautam joined the firm and quickly imported polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, into India.

He succeeded in convincing the minister to create a policy for port-rail connectivity. Port owners could build rail lines to the closest railheads under the program.
