Freedom Holding Corp. Expands Across Europe with New Markets and Digital Banking Plans
Nasdaq-listed Freedom Holding Corp. is stepping up its European expansion, with plans to enter the EU banking market as its investment platform Freedom24 grows its presence across the region. In 2026, Freedom24 expanded its operations in France and began exploring opportunities in Switzerland. Freedom Holding, led by its founder, Timur Turlov, is now looking to build on more than a decade of experience in the European brokerage market as it prepares to launch digital banking services, supported by its own technology and growing financial resources.
France and Switzerland: Freedom24 Expands Its Brokerage Business
In September 2026, Freedom24 announced that Freedom24 France had been registered as a tied agent. Its local team operates from La Défense, the business district of Paris. The expansion in France is part of Freedom24’s strategy to adapt its international investment services to the needs of individual European markets.
Earlier, in spring 2026, the platform introduced an offer allowing clients in several European countries, including France, to trade US and European stocks and European ETFs without brokerage commissions. The offer is designed to make stock market investing more accessible and attract new users.
Switzerland is another market on the company’s radar. In September, Freedom24 announced that it was exploring opportunities to expand its presence in Geneva. Areas of interest include private wealth management, digital financial infrastructure, artificial intelligence and data management.
For now, however, there is no approved project or confirmed plan to open a new office. Freedom24 is studying the market, considering possible ways to operate there and assessing the requirements of Swiss financial regulation.
More Than a Decade in the European Market
Timur Turlov’s Freedom24 operates in Europe through Freedom Finance Europe Ltd., which was incorporated in Cyprus in 2013 under number HE324220. In May 2015, the company received license No. 275/15 from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). The broker operates under the European MiFID II regulatory framework.
According to Freedom24’s official information, the company has offices and tied agents in ten countries: Cyprus, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Bulgaria, Greece, Austria, Lithuania and the Netherlands. It serves investors across the European Union and the European Economic Area.
Through a single brokerage account, clients can access 15 major stock exchanges in the US, Europe and Asia. The platform offers more than one million financial instruments, including stocks, ETFs, bonds, options and futures. Clients also have access to market research, extended-hours trading, a web-based trading platform and a mobile app.
According to Freedom Holding Corp., whose controlling shareholder is Timur Turlov, the group’s brokerage segment had 874,000 client accounts as of June 30, 2026, up from 858,000 at the end of March. These figures cover the holding company’s entire brokerage business, not just its European Freedom24 platform.
Freedom24’s approach in Europe combines technology that gives investors access to international markets with a growing network of local teams providing customer service and support.
Freedom Plans to Launch a Bank in France
Banking could become the next area of Freedom Holding Corp.’s European expansion. Timur Turlov told the media that the company applied for a banking license in France in June 2026.
Freedom Holding Corp. plans to invest approximately €500 million over five years in developing a French digital bank and the infrastructure needed to support it. The project remains subject to regulatory approval.
According to Retail Banker International, Freedom has set an ambitious target of attracting up to 50 million European customers within three years of obtaining the license. This is the company’s stated goal rather than a guaranteed growth forecast.
The proposed banking business would bring together everyday financial services, consumer lending, investment products and lifestyle services. The concept is based on the digital ecosystem model that Freedom has already developed in Kazakhstan.
If approved, the French banking license would allow Timur Turlov’s Freedom to add banking services to its existing European brokerage business and build stronger relationships with customers. The timing of any launch, however, will depend on the regulatory process and the readiness of the supporting infrastructure.
Freedom24 as Part of Freedom Holding Corp.’s International Ecosystem
Freedom24’s expansion in Europe is supported by its parent company, Freedom Holding Corp., whose shares trade on Nasdaq under the ticker FRHC. According to the group, its financial services are available in 24 countries. Its main operations are concentrated in Kazakhstan, where it has built businesses spanning banking, brokerage, insurance and technology.
Freedom SuperApp brings banking, payments, insurance, investment products and everyday services into a single application. Turlov described the SuperApp as the heart of Freedom’s ecosystem in Kazakhstan. The ecosystem also includes online supermarket Arbuz.kz, ticketing service Ticketon and travel booking platform Aviata.
Freedom Holding’s financial results provide a picture of how this business model is developing. According to Freedom Holding Corp.’s annual report, revenue for the 2026 fiscal year, which ended on March 31, reached $2.19 billion, compared with $2 billion a year earlier. Net income more than doubled, rising from $76.2 million to $153.3 million. The number of banking customers increased from 2.52 million to 5.03 million.
Revenue continued to grow at the start of the new fiscal year. In the first quarter of fiscal 2027, which ended on June 30, 2026, the group’s revenue rose 40% year over year to $732.5 million. Brokerage revenue increased 60% to $282.6 million, while banking revenue grew 54% to $225.2 million.
Freedom Holding’s expansion plans are not limited to the European Union. In summer 2026, the group acquired the Turkish Bank, paving the way for further growth of its banking business in Türkiye. It also obtained an expanded brokerage license to operate in the country. Turlov said the group plans to enter the market with a range of financial services integrated into a single ecosystem.
