The method
Keep in mind
Use the calculator to compare scenarios rather than as a guaranteed forecast.
Project staking income with compounding, convert an advertised APR to a true APY after validator fees, and see what a fall in the token's price would do to the value of the rewards.
The advertised rate is reduced by the fee share to a net APR, then compounded at the chosen frequency to give APY and the token balance over the years entered. Rewards are valued at today's price and at the price after the change entered.
Staking 1,000 tokens at £25 with a 6% rate, 10% fee and weekly compounding earns about 176 tokens over three years (5.55% APY). A 20% price fall leaves the whole position worth less than the £25,000 put in.

The core calculation or transformation runs in your browser. Normal website security and analytics may still record page-level events, but the tool does not need to create a public record from your inputs.
Treating APR and APY as the same number. Ignoring the validator or platform fee. Staking a token you would not otherwise hold, chasing yield into price risk.
