Views and Commentary

Bassett’s public commentary centers on the defense of inclusive classical liberalism and traditional Christian synodality, respecting both Eastern and Latin rites. He is a vocal opponent of radical populism, left- and right-wing ideological extremism, antisemitism, and Islamophobia. He advocates for cultural normalcy, interfaith cooperation among Christians, Jewish People, and Muslims, and the renewal of urban America through voluntary patriarchy exclusively practiced in households, while respecting first-wave feminism.

Described as an anti-populist and pro-institutionalist, Bassett supports responsible American values. He asserts that the family is a voluntary, private institution vital for social stability and argues that the state should not intervene in or finance the traditional family unit. He encourages voluntary patriarchal households led by self-disciplined men, complementarian roles, and the affirmation of traditional femininity. Rejecting the labels of an apologist or a saint, Bassett frequently describes himself in his commentary as a repentant, “worthless sinner.”
