Privasee was originally founded to simplify privacy compliance – a goal it successfully delivered on – earning the trust of hundreds of companies and attracting investment from leading backers. But as the team grew, they recognised a bigger challenge: while privacy compliance remained essential, businesses were increasingly burdened by the constant need to prove their trustworthiness across security, legal, and compliance reviews. It was this realisation that led the team to secure £1.1 million in funding from the likes of Pitchdrive, SFC Capital, and Plug and Play in November 2024 to fuel their next chapter. Vera was created to address that broader, industry-wide issue.
“We realised that trust can’t stop at compliance,” said Manuel Martinez Chamorro, Co-founder of Vera. “Our customers were bottlenecked by the growing number of security questionnaires, legal reviews and Request for Proposals (RFPs). It wasn’t enough to have invested in GDPR, SOC II, HIPPA etc – you had to prove it over and over, in every deal. Vera is our answer to that.“
Why the Team Rebranded as Vera
Despite its continued growth, the Privasee team came to realise that modern businesses need more than certifications – they need tools that help them earn and sustain trust at scale.
