Electric bikes have grown quite popular in the consumer market over the last decade. Some people use them to enjoy a more comfortable leisurely riding experience, while others rely on them as an affordable form of transportation.
In any case, companies are competing against one another to design electric bikes with aesthetics and performance in mind. One such company at the forefront of the electric bike revolution is the Los Angeles-based ONYX Motors. Not only does the company manufacture electric bikes, but it also creates vehicles with a blend of high-quality electric performance and a retro-inspired aesthetic design.
For decades, motorbike riders have been yearning for vintage-style motorcycles with the same great modern technology seen in the latest bike inventions. ONYX Motors offers consumers the best of both by giving them both nostalgia and innovation in their electric bikes. People will get to witness this firsthand at the upcoming event dedicated to motorcycle innovation.

It is a renowned annual event featuring custom motorcycle innovations on display for people to see and celebrate. These are unique and unconventional bikes guaranteed to capture people’s attention and imaginations.
ONYX Motors plans to showcase its new line of custom street-ready RCR 80V concept bikes at the event. The RCR 80V is a machine that offers both the ultimate riding experience and the freedom of expression for beginner and seasoned designers.

“ONYX has always been about capturing a feeling, not just building electric bikes,” said Tim Seward, Founder and Chief Design Officer of ONYX Motors. “The RCR Design Studio pushes that expression to the limit, bringing the joy of riding into the electric future, the ONYX way: full throttle, electrifying, and built for getting lost.”
Those who attend the One Motorcycle Show will get to explore the RCR 80V line of electric bikes up close and personal. They will get to meet up with the team responsible for designing the RCR 80V so that they can better understand the craftsmanship and design philosophy behind it.
Some of the creative electric bike designs featured at the event include Bryce Wong’s The Pink Panther, Steady Garage’s S-56 Outlaw, Ivan Ceja’s Citizen Zero, and Tim Seward’s Trapper Keeper. Each design is a specific, one-of-a-kind custom concept build of the RCR 80V. They offer something original in both their performance and aesthetics.
For instance, fans of the 1980s TV sitcom “Saved by the Bell” will appreciate the Trapper Keeper design, featuring the same captivating New Wave purple, day glow pink, and highlighter yellow colors that you would see on those classic school organizers. On the other hand, Bryce Wang’s Pink Panther design brings a sculptor’s perspective to the RCR 80V, transforming rigid structure into fluid motion.

“Inspired by the new 80V power increase, the Pink Panther RCR 80V combines the iconography of its namesake with classic endurance racer style to create a playful new expression of speed and power,” said Portland-based designer Bryce Wong. “It’s fast, strange, and pink. Made the only way I know how: by having fun.”

About the RCR80V Electric Bike
The RCR 80V electric motor bike features an advanced 80V battery system with up to 18kW power. Riders will be able to reach speeds of up to 65 mph and travel from 0 to 30 mph in approximately 1.7 seconds. It offers a range of up to 130 miles if set to Eco mode, which is suitable for casual riders who are not in a hurry. But for those who want a high-adrenaline riding experience, they can set the bike to Sport mode and travel up to 55 miles.
The RCR 80V bike design comes with all the modern features and materials that modern riders want in their electric bikes. For starters, the bike contains a lightweight aluminum frame to give the bike durability and speed at the same time. It also features hydraulic disc brakes, regenerative braking, and a TFT touchscreen display. You can even integrate the display with your smartphone device to make calls, navigate the area, and play your favorite music.
In addition to all these advanced technologies, the RCR 80V contains ONYX’s signature aesthetic design inspired by 1980s bike aesthetics. That means the bike uses more expressive colors and details to create more individuality for the owner. Since we live in a time when retro has never been more popular, RCR 80V offers the perfect blend of nostalgia with modern technology.
Anyone who remembers bikes from the 80s will recognize the BMX-style pedals on the RCR 80V. That, along with the motorcycle-grade components and customizable finishes, sets it apart from any other electric bike on the market today. After all, what other bike offers both personality and performance? ONYX Motors seems to be the only company dominating this market.
Meet the Founder: Tim Seward
Tim Steward is the founder and chief design officer of ONYX Motors. As a lifelong tinkerer and passionate moped enthusiast, Steward’s interest in electric bikes started in 2012, when he transformed gas mopeds into sleek, powerful prototypes. His background in industrial design led him to create a portfolio of work for mobile innovators like Bird, UBCO, Scoot, and FREEBORD, as well as consumer lifestyle brands like HP, Sonos, Intel, Nike, and Google.
Steward’s successful experiments and industrial design experience led him to launch ONYX Motors in 2017 after a breakthrough Indiegogo campaign to raise money for it. He introduced the RCR bike’s timeless design and raw performance, which ended up redefining what electric mobility feels like through quality design, nostalgia, and powerful emotion.
Nine years later, in 2026, Steward leads the design of every bike made at ONYX Motors. His vision is to create electric bikes that offer more than a mode of transportation, but also vehicles of self-expression and rebellion. That is why his company continues to push the boundaries of electric two-wheeled design. Riders from around the world can enjoy the freedom to unleash their energetic alter ego when riding an ONYX bike.
