Clip-on flashlights are useful until the beam is aimed at your chest, the ceiling, or the one spot where you are definitely not working. Olight has taken a direct swing at that problem with the Oclip 2 Series, launched at O-Fan Day in Houston on September 19.
The headline feature is a dual-axis design. The light head tilts up to 115 degrees, and the clip rotates through 360 degrees. You attach the light once, then steer the beam where it needs to go. Self-locking pivots keep the selected position from drifting during use.
A tiny task light for your backpack, garage, or desk
The setup works in a lot of everyday places: a backpack strap on an evening walk, MOLLE webbing on work gear, a tent loop at camp, or the edge of a shirt pocket during a repair. Olight also fitted magnets at the MCC tail and clip, so the light can attach to compatible steel surfaces from different orientations.
Olight says the clip and dual-axis mechanism were each tested through 10,000 cycles. The product materials also list IP66 protection and 2-meter drop resistance, useful specs for something designed to spend its life clipped to gear and moved around constantly.
Pro and Ultra cover different workloads
The $49.99 Oclip 2 Pro has flood, spot, and red lighting. Flood output reaches 530 lumens, the spot beam reaches up to 125 meters, and red output reaches 40 lumens. It comes in Classic Black, High-Visibility Orange, and Tidal Blue.
The $69.99 Oclip 2 Ultra moves to 580 lumens for flood mode and a 130-meter spot range. It adds UV through Olight’s in-house R/UV emitter, with UV output reaching 800 mW. The UV mode is designed for inspection jobs involving fluorescent dyes, including automotive leak detection. The Ultra comes in Olive Green, Onyx Black, and Amber Orange and uses Olight’s OAL aluminum for the body and head.
USB-C keeps the charging situation easy
Both models support USB-C, so they can fit into the same charging kit as a phone, tablet, earbuds, or power bank. Olight also includes its magnetic MCC charging option. Premium versions add a 1,000 mAh Mobile Charging Dock that automatically tops up the light, displays battery levels, and extends total runtime to around twice that of the light alone.
Olight says the Oclip family has grown beyond one million users worldwide. The new rotating-and-tilting platform gives that audience finer control over a light that can live on clothing, a pack, a workbench, or a vehicle. For Android users already carrying USB-C chargers and power banks, the charging setup is especially easy to fold into an existing travel kit.
