Inspiring Profile | Biographical-Narrative Style Bruno Martimiano Rodrigues: The Scientist-Entrepreneur Shaping the Future with Nanotechnology

Bruno Martimiano Rodrigues

From a young age, Bruno Martimiano Rodrigues believed that engineering should go beyond calculations — it needed to solve real-world problems. Today, that conviction has materialized into an internationally recognized career that combines high-impact scientific research, technological innovation, and business leadership.

Bruno is one of the few Brazilians to earn the title of Senior Member of the IEEE, a distinction awarded to less than 10% of members of the world’s largest technical-scientific organization. His merit stems not only from academic credentials but from the concrete contributions he has made to the industry.

At the startup DBM Eletrotech, which he co-founded, Bruno leads nanotechnology projects applied in healthcare — such as regenerative dressings and antiviral filters — as well as solutions for the industrial sector. The products developed are being adopted in hospitals, clinics, and high-demand industrial environments, elevating Brazilian nanotechnology to a new level.

At the same time, Bruno maintains an active scientific output, with articles in journals such as Revista Científica Sistemática, Revista de Ciências Exatas e da Terra, and Lumen et Virtus. One of his most relevant studies, “Nanotechnology Applied to Industry,” is already cited as a reference in the use of polymeric nanofiber mats for thermal and structural performance in advanced production lines.

Bruno is living proof that innovation is born in research but comes to life through application.
