Geary Reid shifted his study career from Agriculture Science to Accountancy and it provided great rewards for him

Geary Reid is a man who defies the slowing pace of the modern world. A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holder of a Master’s in Project Management, Reid has built a distinguished career spanning over three decades in finance and business consultancy. However, it is his recent literary feat that has captured global attention: writing and publishing 104 non-fiction books in just over five years—without the use of Artificial Intelligence.

Born in Guyana to a family of eight, Reid’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming the CEO of Reid’s Learning Institute and Business Consultancy is a testament to the resilience he preaches. We sat down with Mr. Reid to discuss his prolific writing career, his pivot from science to business, and his vision for shaping the next generation of leaders.

Q: You have achieved something remarkably rare in the publishing world—writing 104 books in roughly 62 months. What drove this explosion of content, and why was it important to you to do it without AI?

Geary Reid:

With over three decades of work experience across different organizations, I have gained a great deal of wisdom on how many things can be done better. As a lifelong student of knowledge, I spent many years studying different academic subjects at institutions around the world.

When it was time to share this wisdom through writing, I felt there was enough within me to help others grow and improve. As a believer, I depend heavily on the inspiration of the Creator, who enabled me to write over 100 books in just 62 months. What makes this even more remarkable is that I accomplished this as a part-time author while still working full-time for my employer.

Although Artificial Intelligence is available to assist many people today, I prefer to rely on my own creativity and wisdom. Therefore, all of my books were written without the use of AI.

Q: Your career path wasn’t a straight line. You initially had a passion for Agricultural Science before pivoting to business and accounting. How did that early adversity shape your resilience?

Geary Reid:

In my early secondary school years, I studied Agricultural Science because I had a strong interest in the sciences. However, when I realized that employment opportunities in agriculture were limited, I returned to school and shifted my focus to business subjects.

I also have a strong passion for mathematics and logical reasoning, which made this transition easier for me. During my secondary education, Accountancy was introduced as a subject, but it was only offered in the Business Stream and not in the Science Stream.

Because of this, I had to move from the Science Stream to the Business Stream in order to pursue Accountancy. Through this change, I reconnected with Accountancy and many other business-related subjects, which I found easier to understand and excel in.

Q: Your book “Leadership: A Tough Call” suggests that leadership isn’t for everyone. What is the biggest misconception young professionals have about becoming a leader?

Geary Reid:

Many young professionals aspire to become leaders mainly because of the prestige and status associated with leadership. They want high salaries and recognition, even when they may not yet possess much wisdom or experience.

Additionally, some young professionals desire leadership positions simply so others will call them by impressive titles, as this boosts their ego rather than serving others or leading with humility.

Q: You founded Reid’s Learning Institute and Business Consultancy. What is the core mission of this organization?

Geary Reid:

Mission:
To help different generations grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding through thought-provoking, simple, and real-life experiences.

Goal:
To provide life-changing information to people around the world at an affordable price.

Q: For the aspiring leaders reading this, what is the one piece of wisdom you hope they take away from your life and work?

Geary Reid:

Learning is a continuous process. Anyone who wants to impact the world must be willing to keep learning regularly. This can be achieved through reading, studying, working in different organizations, attending religious events within their faith, and interacting with a diverse range of people.

While Artificial Intelligence is available as a tool, people must actively seek wisdom. When they truly understand what to do and why, their lives will improve, and they will be able to adapt to different situations without relying solely on AI.
