In a recent interview, Arat shared more about his life and background, reflecting on his commitment to both his family and his professional endeavors.
Who or what inspired you to pursue a career in your chosen field?
My journey into the IT and marketing fields was driven by my natural curiosity about technology and business strategy. I was inspired by the possibilities of using technology to enhance business operations and market products effectively. Since moving to the U.S. and embracing the entrepreneurial spirit integral to the American dream, I’ve been self-employed since 2009, steering my own companies towards innovation and market leadership. This path has not only aligned with my professional interests but has also allowed me to live out my version of the American dream.
Can you share a defining moment that shaped your career?
A defining moment in my career was shaped by the challenges I faced, where each failure taught me crucial lessons about what not to do, refining my business strategies and fostering personal growth. However, the most significant turning point was the birth of my daughter. It deeply influenced my motivations, reinforcing my commitment to ensuring her future by providing every possible opportunity. This goal underscored the importance of financial success, which became a central driving force behind my efforts to secure and expand my business ventures.
How would you describe your personal and professional values?
I live and breathe by a simple commitment: treat others as you would like to be treated. This principle guides both my personal interactions and professional conduct. I believe that if you uphold this value, everything else in life and work tends to align and fall into place. This core belief has been integral to building relationships, fostering teamwork, and driving ethical business practices throughout my career.
What advice would you give your younger self?
If I could offer advice to my younger self, I’d say, first, to listen to your CTO about investing in Bitcoin back in 2010. More seriously, though, it’s difficult to choose just one piece of advice, as there are countless lessons I’ve encountered over the years. Importantly, I would stress that we learn from our experiences—falling, stumbling, and getting back up. Even if my younger self might not have listened, the journey of learning through trial and error is invaluable.
What personal or professional achievements are you most proud of?
The achievement I am most proud of is undoubtedly my role in my daughter’s life. She is growing into an independent, humble young woman, and I take immense pride in having influenced her development. This brings to mind one of my favorite quotes: “A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove. But the world may be different, because I was important in the life of my daughter.” This perspective is what truly shapes my sense of accomplishment, both personally and professionally.
How do you manage stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance to ensure overall well-being?
When it comes to managing stress and maintaining a healthy work-life balance, I must admit that I am still working on finding the best approach. It’s an ongoing challenge, and I have yet to figure out a foolproof method. Once I do, I’ll certainly share the insights!
How do you define success?
By having peace. It’s about finding a sense of tranquility and contentment in life, beyond the conventional measures of achievement.
Who is the one entrepreneur or business leader that you consider to be your greatest example and inspiration? Why?
I don’t have a single entrepreneur or business leader who stands as my ultimate example or inspiration. Instead, my inspiration comes from countless men and women who have found great success in various fields of life and business. Each offers a unique perspective and demonstrates the diversity of paths to success, which collectively inspire me. The list of influential figures is truly endless.
Are there any charitable organizations or community service-oriented activities that you are involved in?
I am involved in a charitable foundation that I started a few years ago to support local families and children. Additionally, I am eager to support any organization that focuses on helping children, especially those where funds directly benefit the most vulnerable among us—our children. This commitment to philanthropy is rooted in a belief in making a tangible difference in their lives.
Please tell us an inspirational, uplifting story about a time you helped change someone’s life, or someone helped change your life and made a difference.
While I have several stories about how I’ve been able to make a difference, I believe true giving should be done without seeking recognition or reward, including publicity. This philosophy inspired the creation of the Plondo Foundation. I prefer to keep specific stories private, honoring the principle that the true value of giving lies in the act itself, not in the acknowledgment received.
