From Pocket to Desk: Where the XTEINK X4 Classic Fits

A phone is an obvious place to read when there’s only ten minutes to spare. It’s also where messages, emails, and everything else compete for attention. The XTEINK X4 Classic offers a way to keep reading separate without carrying another large device. It has a 4.3-inch E Ink display, weighs just 68g, and measures 4.9mm thick. Built-in magnets let it attach to the back of a compatible smartphone, while a small desktop stand gives it somewhere to sit once the working day begins. XTEINK currently includes the Base Stand at no additional cost with eligible X4 Classic purchases.

Reading on the Way to Work

The X4 Classic is an independent e-reader, not an extra display for a smartphone. Its screen, battery, and storage are all built into the device, so there’s no need to keep the phone switched on while reading. Two adhesive metal rings are included for phones that need help accommodating the magnetic attachment. Readers can leave the device attached to their phone or take it off and hold it separately.

At 4.3 inches, the display is considerably smaller than a typical Kindle screen, but that’s part of the appeal for short journeys. There is enough room for a few paragraphs of a novel without taking up much space in a pocket or bag. Page-turn buttons sit on both sides of the reader, which is useful when switching hands on a crowded train. There is also a shake-to-turn function, although the physical buttons are likely to be the more familiar option for most readers.

Books can be loaded through the XTEINK app or transferred directly to the included 16GB microSD card. Storage can be expanded to 256GB, and EPUB and TXT files are supported for reading on the device. Once the books are there, they stay available without an internet connection. Underground stations, tunnels, and patchy mobile coverage aren’t much of a concern when the reading material is stored locally.

Keeping a Book on the Desk

Most pocket e-readers are easy to put away. The problem is that once they’re put away, they often stay there until the next journey. XTEINK’s Base Stand gives the X4 Classic a more permanent place on a desk, whether that’s next to a laptop, a monitor, or somewhere between the usual office clutter. A book can remain open and within reach without using the phone or occupying another computer window.

The stand is currently offered free with qualifying X4 Classic purchases. The reader also comes with a magnetic charging adapter, which connects to Pogo Pin contacts on the device and has a USB-C port for the charging cable. The port is on the adapter rather than the reader itself. With the stand and adapter together, it’s possible to keep the X4 Classic upright while charging at a desk.

It’s a fairly modest setup, but it suits the way reading tends to happen during a busy day. Someone might get through a few pages over lunch, return to work, and pick up the same book later without searching through apps or notifications. The stand doesn’t add new reading features, and it doesn’t need to. It simply makes the device easier to leave somewhere useful instead of putting it back in a pocket.

What the X4 Classic Leaves Out

There are a few compromises. The X4 Classic has no touchscreen, so readers use its physical buttons to navigate. It also lacks a built-in front light. That’s unlikely to matter much on a bright train or at an office desk, but reading in a dark bedroom would require an external light. XTEINK sells a separate magnetic reading light, while its X4 Pro has an integrated adjustable front light and touchscreen for those who want them.

A larger e-reader is still the more comfortable option for spending several hours with a book. The X4 Classic makes more sense when reading happens in smaller pieces throughout the day. It can remain on the back of a phone during a commute, then sit beside a computer once the journey is over. The Base Stand and charging adapter are useful additions to a device that otherwise keeps things deliberately simple.

XTEINK’s Halloween sale runs from October 21 to 31, 2026, with up to 17% off the X4 Classic and 13% off the X3 from October 24, while selected Halloween deals will also be available on Amazon, although offers may vary by platform.
