As artificial intelligence reshapes expectations for graduates and professionals alike, Dr. David Z. Jacome is bringing together academic research, executive experience, and technical expertise to help institutions and businesses adapt.
For years, conversations about artificial intelligence have focused on what the technology might become. Dr. David Z. Jacome is more interested in a different question: whether organizations are prepared for what AI already is.
As Lecturer in Accounting and Accounting Area Coordinator at SUNY Brockport, Jacome spends much of his time helping students understand how data, analytics, and AI are changing the business world. At the same time, as the Founder of AI Enterprise Solutions, he works directly with organizations seeking to determine how artificial intelligence fits into their operations, decision-making processes, and long-term planning.
That dual perspective has become increasingly valuable as businesses face growing pressure to develop AI literacy and data fluency across their workforce. For David Jacome, the challenge is not simply adopting new technology. It is helping people understand how to use it responsibly and effectively.
A Career Built Across Disciplines
Jacome’s path into AI did not begin in computer science. It began in physics.
Before teaching accounting and business analytics, he conducted research at institutions including MIT’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center, Princeton’s plasma research program, Rutgers University, and the A.J. Drexel Plasma Institute. That quantitative foundation later expanded into accounting, finance, educational leadership, and executive advisory work.
Over the past two decades, Jacome has taught at more than 20 institutions across New Jersey and New York, ranging from high schools to graduate business programs. His teaching experience spans mathematics, statistics, physics, accounting, and analytics.
An equally varied career matches that broad academic background in operations. Jacome has served in leadership and executive roles with Attis Capital, Wall Street Investments, Cole Haan, and as a Vistage Chair with Vistage Worldwide, where he coached CEOs and senior executives on leadership and organizational performance.
He has also founded several organizations, including AI Solutions, the International Federation of Physicists, Luxury Cleaning Services, and Hudson County New Jersey Tennis, Inc. Together, those experiences have given Jacome exposure to the realities of both business operations and organizational leadership.
Bringing AI Into the Classroom
Many organizations understand that AI will affect their industry. Fewer understand how to build the internal knowledge needed to use it effectively.
At SUNY Brockport, Jacome serves on the School of Business and Management AI Task Force, contributes to broader AI Task Force initiatives in higher education, and co-advises the AI Club.
He also serves as an Advisor to the Accounting Society, helping guide discussions on curriculum modernization and workforce readiness.
Jacome’s work increasingly focuses on AI in business education, an area receiving growing attention from employers, accreditation bodies, and academic leaders. Within accounting programs, conversations about AI and generative AI in accounting are becoming increasingly important as firms seek graduates who understand both traditional financial principles and emerging technologies.
For students pursuing careers in accounting, finance, and analytics, SUNY Brockport’s AI initiatives are becoming an important part of their preparation for a changing professional landscape. As the Accounting Area Coordinator, Jacome has been involved in discussions about how SUNY Brockport’s accounting programs can continue to adapt to evolving expectations.
Connecting Research, Analytics, and Industry
One reason Jacome’s perspective resonates with both educators and executives is that he continues to work in both environments simultaneously.
Through AI Solutions, also known as AI Enterprise Solutions, he advises organizations on enterprise AI strategy, analytics adoption, and organizational readiness. Jacome’s work includes business analytics consulting to help organizations evaluate how AI and data tools fit within existing operations.
His professional development reflects the same commitment to staying current. In addition to advanced academic study, he has completed AI and analytics certifications from Google, IBM, Microsoft, the University of Michigan, the Wharton School, and other institutions.
Those credentials complement Jacome’s work as a Power BI consultant and data analytics consultant, providing practical experience alongside his academic responsibilities.
His forthcoming peer-reviewed scholarship explores AI in business education and the integration of sustainability, further connecting classroom instruction to the realities modern organizations face.
Community Impact Beyond the Classroom
While much of Jacome’s recent work centers on AI and analytics, community service remains an important part of his career.
At SUNY Brockport, he leads the CASH/VITA volunteer tax preparation program, helping provide free tax services to underserved residents. Through Hudson County New Jersey Tennis, Inc., Jacome has spent years working to restore recreational facilities and expand youth access to sports opportunities.
These efforts reflect a consistent theme throughout his professional life: applying technical knowledge and organizational leadership to practical community needs.
Preparing the Next Generation
As artificial intelligence becomes a permanent part of business operations, organizations need more than enthusiasm for new technology. They need people who understand data, finance, operations, and the limitations and opportunities that AI presents.
That combination of experience is what makes Dr. David Z. Jacome a distinctive voice in conversations about business education and organizational strategy. His career spans research laboratories, executive leadership roles, classrooms, nonprofit organizations, and consulting engagements, all connected by a commitment to quantitative thinking and continuous learning.
