Anup Raja Sarabu: Leading the Digital Commerce Revolution through AI and Asynchronous Innovation

Anup Raja Sarabu stands as a beacon of leadership and innovation in the field of digital commerce and enterprise systems integration. With over 17 years of experience across leading telecom and technology firms—including T-Mobile, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, and Tata Consultancy Services—Anup has consistently pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in product strategy, digital transformation, and AI-led innovation.

Early Life and Academic Foundation

Anup’s academic journey began at the Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science (KITS), Warangal, India, where he earned a Bachelor of Technology degree. His foundational education in software engineering and systems design developed his analytical mindset and laid the groundwork for a career defined by complex problem-solving and scalable architectures.

From Developer to Architect: Building Technical Excellence

Anup began his professional journey at Honeywell Technology Solutions and grew through development and validation roles. At Tata Consultancy Services and Hewlett-Packard, he mastered middleware integration and led re-platforming efforts such as for Vodafone UK, earning the “Agile Operations Excellence” award for his agile delivery excellence.

At Ericsson, Anup transitioned into solution architecture, where he designed the Web Service Integration Layer (WSIL) for T-Mobile’s enterprise systems. His work significantly enhanced service interoperability and accelerated time-to-market, relying on tools such as TIBCO BW and Business Events.

Product Innovation at Scale: T-Mobile and Beyond

Currently serving as Senior Technical Product Manager at T-Mobile, Anup orchestrates omnichannel digital commerce experiences across app, web, and retail environments. He has led the delivery of critical features like flagship device launches, new rate plans, and identity services, including eSIM and port-in flows.

A marquee achievement includes leading the transformation of T-Mobile’s cart platform from a monolithic system to a distributed commerce stack—leveraging GoldenGate, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, and DynamoDB. This modernization drastically reduced latency and improved concurrency, enabling more resilient digital transactions.

His AI-driven recommendation systems significantly enhanced personalization, resulting in a 25% increase in self-serve conversions. Anup’s contributions to cloud-native microservices have further advanced T-Mobile’s customer-first agenda.

Pioneering Asynchronous Commerce

Anup is currently spearheading asynchronous commerce—a breakthrough model in digital shopping that decouples transactions from real-time agents. He pioneered the Buy Online While In Store (BOWIS) experience within the T-Life app, allowing in-store customers to shop, check out, and initiate services autonomously. This innovation supports T-Mobile’s “Digital First” philosophy by improving store efficiency and user empowerment.

“We’re moving from reactive systems to proactive, predictive experiences that operate at the user’s pace—not the system’s.” – Anup Raja Sarabu
