The Word of the Day app, one of the pioneers of the mobile market in the field of vocabulary expansion, was recently acquired by a longtime user.

Every day the app shares carefully selected new English words. Since its existence, the app has been downloaded by about 7 million people around the world.

It’s used by everyone from university students to Hollywood directors and Nobel Prize nominated academics, and the team conducts regular user interviews to understand their needs.

One of those users was the future buyer of the company – American investor and entrepreneur John Steuart. After taking part in a user survey, he expressed his desire to talk to the people behind the app. One thing led to another, and after several conversations, he decided to purchase it.

Post-purchase, the team has formed a new parent company, Vocabulous US, and is planning a rapid expansion of its services.

The company is American and has an R&D center in Warsaw.
