Apple Postpones Release Of AI Features Till October

Apple’s AI features delayed to October, available only on iPhone 15 Pro and newer models.

TakeAway Points:

  • Apple has pushed back the release of iOS 18 to October in order to conduct additional testing on AI capabilities, such as ChatGPT integration and improved Siri.
  • AI functions will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro models and later, along with iPads and Macs that have M1 CPUs or later.
  • Apple’s shares exhibit a bullish golden cross pattern; a possible price goal is approximately $256, notwithstanding the recent stock downturn.

AI features are postponed

Apple’s highly anticipated artificial intelligence (AI) features, known as Apple Intelligence, will not be included in the initial launch of the iPhone and iPad software updates, according to a Bloomberg report released on Monday. The company has decided to delay the rollout of these features to October, several weeks after the initial September launch of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. The delay is attributed to concerns over the stability of the AI features and the need for extensive testing. Apple plans to give developers early access to Apple Intelligence as soon as this week in the iOS 18.1 beta.

The AI features, which include ChatGPT integration and improvements to Siri, are expected to drive sales of Apple’s new iPhones. However, these features will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro models and newer. Apple first announced Apple Intelligence on June 10, and the features will also be available on all Macs and iPads that run the M1 chip or newer. The AI capabilities include proofreading writing, creating custom emojis, and summarizing and transcribing phone calls.

Developer Access and Testing

Apple remains on track to make its AI technology available to software developers for beta testing as early as this week, according to the Bloomberg report. The company initially planned to release the AI features in a beta version this fall, but the need for further testing has pushed the full rollout to October. The AI features are expected to be released in stages, with some, such as ChatGPT integration and Siri improvements, coming later in the year.

The company has been securing deals with several AI firms, including OpenAI and Meta, to integrate their technology into its features, applications, and software. One notable upgrade is the ChatGPT-powered updates that will be introduced to the Siri voice assistant, allowing users to navigate their devices more efficiently. Additionally, new features will enable users to transcribe audio and video calls instantly, thanks to generative AI.

AppleStock Price and Market Reaction

Apple shares are in focus following the Bloomberg report. The stock initially trended higher for several weeks after breaking out of a ten-month trading range in early June but has since undergone a retracement. Despite the pullback, the 50-day moving average (MA) recently crossed above the 200-day MA, forming a bullish golden cross pattern, which is interpreted by technical analysts as marking the start of a new uptrend.

Investors can forecast a potential price target by using a bar pattern, which extracts the price move from the stock’s trending period between January and July last year and applies it to the late April swing low, forecasting a target of around $256. Apple shares were little changed at $218.00 in premarket trading around two hours before Monday’s opening bell.
