WOM Protocol Partners With SailingSea.io To Launch WOM Token Transfers Through Zelle

Singapore, Friday, June 30th, 2023: WOM Protocol, the Web3 marketing solution replacing traditional ads with user-generated content, today announced a partnership with SailingSea.io, the fiat-to-crypto conversion website enabling the fast and low-fee purchase of cryptocurrencies. Sailing Sea’s third-party system, which is registered under a US money transmitter license, will enable the WOM Protocol to become one of the first participating projects to offer access to its tokens using the Zelle mobile payments app. Zelle had by the end of 2021 already around 61.6m users. The WOM Token’s utility enables brands to reward content creators, publishers, and platforms for spreading the word about their products or services, and the partnership will provide the WOM Protocol’s US-based community members with easy access to its token’s utility.

The partnership furthers the WOM Protocol’s mission of growing a global community of WOM Token holders to rally around the regeneration of Web2’s online advertising industry. The WOM Protocol’s goal is to replace traditional online advertising, which is projected to reach $209.43 Billion in 2027, up from $178.29 billion in 2022 (Digital Advertising Global Market Report 2023), with Web3-based user-generated marketing, that not only captures value for its creators but provides social capital for advertisers, while giving platforms a user-friendly monetization model.

The WOM Protocol enables advertisers to find, track and reward word-of-mouth recommendations using the WOM Token to reward creators based on their content engagement and quality ratings. The Protocol includes:

  • The WOM Authenticator app, which authenticates recommendations across all WOM-integrated platforms;
  • The WOM Campaign Manager, which enables advertisers to find, track and access word-of-mouth recommendations by spending WOM Tokens;
  • A Shopify app;
  • An underlying payment protocol that automatically rewards creators, authenticators, publishers, and platforms in WOM Tokens.

Advertisers benefit from the credibility and authenticity that creators provide, ensuring a transparent and equitable advertising ecosystem that aligns the interests of creators, brands, and platforms. The protocol’s “to-earn” tokenomics is based on existing user behavior, as recommendations are made 2.1 billion times daily. WOM is already live and tested, having processed more than 27,886,895 transactions in 2022 alone, with more than 185k aggregated WOM videos passing “authentication”, or peer review of content to date. WOM has meanwhile scaled its ecosystem of BULLZ marketing technology products for Web3. These include:

  • The “TikTok of Crypto” BULLZ app, which enables creators to get rewarded for recommendation videos;
  • The BULLZ Campaign Manager, which gives brands access to UGC from the BULLZ creator network;
  • Bullz.io, which activates project community members to get creative and contribute towards marketing campaigns.

Sailing Sea is a crypto-conversion website launched in 2023 by Joseph Sued, a serial e-commerce entrepreneur and Fintech specialist, and Nic Szerman, a former Facebook blockchain engineer who in November 2022 seized his entrepreneurial opportunity following mass layoffs at Meta Platforms. Together the pair co-founded Nulink, a blockchain-based payments company, which provides Sailing Sea with an API that enables fiat-to-crypto conversions on any Dapp or exchange. By building its own payment rails instead of using existing infrastructure, and by cutting out centralized intermediaries, Sailing Sea claims it is able to charge 50% less than current fiat to crypto gateways while taking 90% less time.

WOM Token will be the latest addition to the growing list of tokens users can now purchase with USD via the Zelle mobile payments app using Sailing Sea’s third-party offering. These include:

  • USDC, MATIC, WETH, and SAND on the Polygon chain;
  • USDC on Ethereum;
  • USDC on Binance;
  • USDC on Arbitrum.

Nic Szerman, Co-Founder at Sailing Sea, said: “We want to drive more crypto adoption and for that, we need better and easier ways to buy crypto. We think of ourselves as sailors, building financial products to help Web2 users sail into Web3 waters, thereby helping great projects provide access to their token utilities. We are excited to partner with WOM and give this project and its token an opportunity to on-ramp US-based users through the Zelle app.”

Melanie Mohr, Founder & CEO of WOM Protocol, said: “This is such an exciting partnership for us and I really think this is the start of a major voyage for Sailing Sea. The very exciting part here is that this is a project which, for the first time, gives users in the US a way into the WOM project to really benefit from the WOM Token’s utility.”
