Study by Lumenci Shows PointAI

An independent review by Lumenci highlights PointAI’s early intellectual property filings dating back to 2012–2014, identifying its foundational patents across virtual try-on, 3D product visualisation and AI-powered commerce. With more than 70 granted patents across the US, South Korea and India, the portfolio spans technology domains increasingly adopted by major players, including Amazon, Google, Walmart, Snap and Meta, positioning PointAI for potential licensing opportunities as AI-driven shopping expands

Sunnyvale, CA, October 21, 2026: PointAI, the simulation AI company whose physics-based engine powers virtual try-on and 3D product visualisation for global commerce platforms, has disclosed early findings from an independent review of its patent portfolio being conducted by Lumenci, an intellectual property platform focused on maximising the value of IP owned by clients.

The review centres on a foundational patent portfolio whose earliest filings date back to 2012–2014. In Lumenci’s assessment, PointAI “was an early mover in virtual product visualization and digital try-on technologies, with its founders filing U.S. patent applications covering interactive 3D product visualization years before AI-enabled virtual try-on became a mainstream e-commerce feature.”

PointAI holds more than 70 granted patents across the United States, South Korea and India. The portfolio spans digital twin and digital human generation, virtual try-on, 3D product visualisation and image-based rendering, user-controlled 3D interaction, product customisation and configuration, and interactive digital showrooms. Lumenci describes these technologies as “creating realistic digital representations of people and products and enabling users to visualize, interact with, customize, and virtually experience products before physical purchase or production.”

Lumenci’s review notes that this technology “is seeing widespread commercial adoption across e-commerce, retail, generative AI, and immersive shopping by major technology and commerce players such as Amazon, Google, Walmart, Snap, Meta,” and concludes that “PointAI’s patents sit within strategically important and commercially active technology domains, potentially expanding their relevance across a wide set of products, platforms, and licensing opportunities.”

The underlying markets are expanding quickly. Lumenci cites virtual try-on growing at approximately 26 per cent CAGR through 2030, conversational AI in retail at around 29 per cent, 3D e-commerce at roughly 20 per cent, and digital human and avatar technologies at more than 40 per cent annually.

“We filed on this several years before the industry arrived at it,” said Nitin Vats, Founder and Chief Executive of PointAI. “Every major commerce and technology platform is now building in the domains these patents cover. We built the engine to run a business rather than to sit on a portfolio, but the portfolio is granted, it is enforceable across three jurisdictions, and its commercial relevance widens every quarter.”

The disclosure comes as PointAI is looking to raise $150 million to build a 250-billion-parameter commerce foundation model and scale its two products, PointAI Platforms for enterprises and its Agentic Commerce App for shoppers. The company’s current investors include Lip-Bu Tan, Chief Executive of Intel, and Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder of Paytm, alongside Orbit Ventures, Artesian and Yali Capital.Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder of Paytm, alongside Orbit Ventures, Artesian and Yali Capital.
