Competing at the Mojo Up Sports Complex from September 4–6, the Lady Hammers faced a strong field of teams at one of the Midwest’s premier national dual tournaments. Their third-place finish adds another impressive result to a program that has continued to establish itself as a force in girls wrestling.
Another Strong Showing for the Lady Hammers
Under the leadership of Sean Kirtz, the Lady Hammers have continued to raise the standard for their athletes both on and off the mat. The program’s appearance at the Midwest Nationals provided another opportunity for the wrestlers to compete against high-level opposition and test themselves in a demanding dual-meet environment.
Finishing third at a national-level event is a significant accomplishment and reflects the depth, preparation and competitive mindset within the Lady Hammers program.
The tournament featured separate divisions for elementary, middle school, boys high school and girls high school, with the girls division offering weight classes ranging from 90 pounds through 230 pounds.
Building a National-Level Program
For Kirtz, results like this represent more than a single weekend of wrestling. The Lady Hammers have been steadily building a program designed to give girls the opportunity to compete, develop and gain experience against some of the best wrestlers and teams in the country.
The third-place finish at Midwest Nationals comes after the Lady Hammers’ recent success at the Back-to-School Duals, where the Lady Hammers Black team captured first place and the Lady Hammers Pink team finished third.
That consistency is becoming a defining characteristic of the program.
From tournament championships to podium finishes at major national events, the Lady Hammers continue to demonstrate that girls wrestling is not simply growing, it is becoming a competitive force, and Sean Kirtz is helping lead the way.
A Podium Finish With More to Come
A third-place finish at the Wild Wild Midwest National Duals gives the Lady Hammers another accomplishment to build upon as the season progresses.
