 What did Meta Build?

Facebook Parent Company Meta announced on Thursday the launch of a new AI assistant built with LIama 3. The Meta AI can now be used by more people around the world, with more features across all their platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger).

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, said in a statement on Instagram that the company is releasing a version of Meta AI that can be asked any question across their apps and glasses. He went further to explain that the new Meta AI is upgraded with their new state-of-the-art LIama 3 AI model.

“Big AI news today. We’re releasing the new version of Meta AI, our assistant that you can ask any question across our apps and glasses. Our goal is to build the world’s leading AI. We’re upgrading Meta AI with our new state-of-the-art Llama 3 AI model, which we’re open sourcing. With this new model, we believe Meta AI is now the most intelligent AI assistant that you can freely use. We’re making Meta AI easier to use by integrating it into the search boxes at the top of WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. We also built a website, meta.ai, for you to use on web,” Mark said.

The New Meta AI

Meta said people can now have access to Meta AI in Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and it will be in English.

According to the report, the Meta AI is available for search across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Users can access real-time information from across the web without having to bounce between apps. Users can create album artwork for your band, decor inspiration for your apartment, animated custom GIFs, and more with Meta’s AI’s image generation.

Supporting Parents Online With Our Screen Smart Program

On Wednesday, Meta launched the 2024 Screen Smart program to help parents navigate conversations with their families about using devices safely and learn more about Meta’s parental supervision tools. With this program, Meta wants to help parents feel more confident about raising their teens in an increasingly digital world, with boundaries and protections that work best for them.

Dr. Hina Talib, a screen smart speaker, pediatrician, and adolescent medicine specialist, said that Instagram and other social media platforms can be great ways to find community, connect with friends, learn new skills, and express yourself.

“Instagram and other social media platforms can be great ways to find community, connect with friends, learn new skills and express yourself. Many teens share with me that they ‘find their people’ online. For parents, it’s important to learn about the tools the platforms offer to help their teen have a positive experience. For example, parents can help teens with their content recommendation settings, time management settings and set up parental supervision if it’s right for them.” said Talib

Meta’s unveiling of its latest AI, powered by Llama 3, marks a significant leap forward in technological innovation. Leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence, this new platform promises to revolutionize the digital landscape, offering unparalleled insights and capabilities.
