How to maximize YouTube Shorts monetization?

Short-form video content has dominated the internet in recent years. TikTok’s popularity has skyrocketed, so it’s only inevitable that other platforms will follow suit. In 2020, YouTube introduced the Shorts feature, which encourages the creation of short-form videos.

Since that day, YouTube has continued to promote and encourage creators to use the Shorts feature and established a sizable fund to compensate them for doing so. Therefore, YouTube shorts can be monetized.

Are YouTube Shorts monetizable?

If we’re discussing Adsense monetization, the answer is yes. However, selling longer videos is not as straightforward. Two distinct types of YouTube Shorts exist.

The Shorts camera allows creators to generate 15-second videos. However, creators are unable to monetize Shorts. Creators can post up to 60-second vertical videos from their mobile devices. Adsense is more compatible with 60-second videos, which can be monetized.

Ways to maximize YouTube Shorts monetization:

Google Adsense

Adsense is one method to monetize your YouTube Shorts. You may use AdSense to monetize your short videos if you are a YouTube Partner Program (YPP) member. However, there are a few important points to consider.

YouTube Shorts are available in two distinct formats. When using the Shorts camera, the duration of the short is restricted to 15 seconds. In this instance, the video does not qualify for Adsense revenue. If a maker employs vertical video advertising, the maximum length of the film is sixty seconds. These longer YouTube shorts can make cash from Google AdSense.

YouTube Shorts Fund

YouTube declared a $100 million fund for YouTube Shorts creators in 2021 to increase the number of creators using the service. As of 2022, YouTube continues to promote this fund and pay creators. The eligibility standards for the YouTube Shorts Fund are less stringent than those for standard monetization.

Here are the conditions:

  • Channels must have a minimum of one eligible Brief uploaded
  • Creators must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines, copyright policies, and monetization guidelines.
  • Channels must have original material Creators must be at least 13 years old
  • Creators aged 13 to 18 should have a parent or guardian approve the rules and create an Adsense account on their behalf.

Brand promotions

Brand deals are another way to monetize your YouTube Shorts. If you put in a lot of effort and see success with your Shorts, brands may contact you about collaborating. Also, if you believe that your Shorts are receiving great attention, you can directly approach brands to see if they wish to collaborate with you on any material.

Consistency, viewership, and participation

Considering the YouTube Shorts Fund, you must complete all the conditions, but that may not be the end. YouTube compensates producers based on the previous month’s performance of their Shorts.

So, do your Shorts receive numerous views and engagement? To receive compensation from YouTube, you must generate an original video that receives many views and is highly engaging. Consistently uploading creative content is one method to do this.

Wrapping Up!

Don’t be afraid to experiment. Try making YouTube Shorts in all different formats, lengths, and genres. Regardless of your choice of video, Adsense is an option for monetization. It is important to remember that YouTube also has programs supporting content creators.
