If you thought the gap between real and virtual was getting smaller, then you were right. ‘H3R03S’ (pronounced ‘Heroes’) is a play-to-earn blockchain-based ecosystem where real-life activities earn you real-time rewards. And these rewards are not trivial, currently reaching up to $1,500 a month.
It’s the world’s first real play-to-earn gaming platform aimed at a very real demographic – students displaced due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Users are matched to tasks in their areas in line with their skills, location, and preferences. Users create their ‘Hero’ profile and choose three skills and three hobbies. They can then complete related tasks in their area.
While it is being introduced into the world of gaming, it is intended to have very intense economic consequences as a disruptive technology that changes the way people interact, live, behave, and earn a living. H3R03S will be fully launched in 2022.
The Swiss-born founder has attended the Davos Economic forum in 2019 and 2020 and has pitched the new paradigm to ex-prime minister Theresa May and a number of other political and economic heavyweights. An agreement has also been made with Queen Mary’s University.
The project is marketed as a revolution in the gig/freelance marketplace which has already been expanded with the advent of Covid-19. People have been pushed into working remotely using sites like Freelancer, TopTal, Linkedin, and Upwork to create work profiles for acquiring jobs.
H3R03S is different. You have a lot more creative freedom in a more fun and inclusive environment. Traditional freelance marketplaces were dehumanizing in terms of connecting ‘worker’ to ‘ jobs’. The world of freelancing can be intimidating to those without significant prior skills and there are no easy means of entry, especially for students.
In other words, it’s set to disrupt the already expanded gig marketplace with an environment that is more interactive, dynamic, inclusive, and fun. All attributes that the target market (students) will appreciate. And H3R03S provides this while adhering to the ongoing Covid-19 social distancing guidelines.
Not only does it allow users to earn money for their completed tasks. Unlike other one-off job platforms such as Fiverr, Craigslist, or Uber, H3RO3S enables users to stay in touch with one another even after the task is completed, forming friendships and meaningful social interactions in the real world. This forms an ideal study/work environment for students at a time where student’s activities and social gatherings are restricted due to Covid-19.
Starting with Queen Mary’s University and London-based Russell Group Universities, H3RO3S plans to expand into United Kingdom universities and their sister universities abroad by 2022. The platform is built on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and Polygon.
