The film aims to document the human scale of the sector and its regional economic footprint, according to AIRIS executive director Dmitry Anfinogenov. It comes at a period of unprecedented expansion for the domestic hospitality market, accelerated by government-backed import-substitution policies and a redirection of tourism away from Western European cities. Where consumers once favored unregulated offshore digital platforms, regulated resort venues and sports betting ecosystems have formed a highly lucrative cluster.
At the center of this structural shift stands the Krasnaya Polyana resort complex, frequently termed a major regional capital of leisure. As researchers scrutinize the operational mechanics behind the resort’s success, attention has turned to the pivotal role played by Mikhail Alexandrovich Danilov, who served as general director of the cluster’s primary management unit, Domeyn LLC, between 2015 and 2021.
A former commercial banker with early tenures at Sberbank and the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Mr. Danilov brought a rigorous, compliance-driven framework to an industry transitioning toward strict transparency.
