Emirates Now Accepts Crypto.com Pay for UAE Flight Bookings in a Push for Digital Finance

Booking a flight to your next destination just got an interesting digital upgrade. Emirates has officially started accepting cryptocurrency payments through Crypto.com Pay. This major update applies specifically to flight bookings for eligible residents of the United Arab Emirates. The move follows a partnership agreement the two companies originally announced last year. It serves as a clear signal that the airline is actively expanding its digital payment options across the region.

The new payment method is now fully live on both the Emirates website and its mobile application. To use the feature, customers simply need a valid Crypto.com account. At checkout, transactions are calculated and settled in Emirati dirhams (AED). The companies confirmed on Tuesday that all payments are processed in strict accordance with the regulatory framework of the country.

This launch builds directly on a memorandum of understanding signed back in July 2025. That initial agreement was focused entirely on exploring ways to fold the exchange’s payment infrastructure directly into the airline’s digital booking system. Now, less than a year later, the integration is a reality.

For travelers, the process is designed to be straightforward. Customers who are booking flights through emirates.com or the official Emirates App can now select Crypto.com Pay during the checkout stage.

The experience differs slightly depending on your device. Mobile users will be automatically redirected to the Crypto.com application. Once they authorize the payment there, they are sent right back to the Emirates app to receive their electronic ticket and booking confirmation. Desktop users, on the other hand, complete the transaction by scanning a QR code that pops up during checkout using the Crypto.com app on their phone.

Adnan Kazim, the deputy president and chief commercial officer at Emirates, sees this as a major step forward for the overall customer experience.

”Bringing this initiative to life delivers on our commitment to expanding customer choice in how they pay for travel,” Kazim stated.

He pointed out that the rollout directly addresses the increasing demand from digitally focused consumers. Modern travelers expect their chosen airlines to support the newest payment methods. Kazim also gave significant credit to the regulatory environment in the UAE, noting that it made this rapid integration possible within a year of the initial announcement.

Crypto.com is treating this launch as a massive win for its payments division. Eric Anziani, the president and chief operating officer of Crypto.com, called the launch a major milestone. He noted that this high-profile collaboration perfectly demonstrates the UAE’s broader support for financial innovation.

The technical integration is powered by the Dubai entity of Crypto.com. According to the company, it recently became the very first virtual asset service provider (VASP) to secure a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license directly from the Central Bank of the UAE. This specific license allows the firm to operate payment services within the country’s tightly regulated stored-value framework.

This launch introduces yet another high-profile commercial use case for crypto payments in the UAE. Regulators there are continuously working to balance the desire for digital asset innovation with the need for strict licensing and consumer protection rules.

Dubai itself has rapidly emerged as one of the most active jurisdictions globally for crypto businesses. By offering dedicated regulatory frameworks, the city has attracted major exchanges, fintech firms, and blockchain developers. This all ties into broader ambitions to digitize financial services across the board.

In fact, the Emirates integration aligns with the Dubai Cashless Strategy. This strategy is a key component of the emirate’s D33 Economic Agenda. The ultimate goal is for 90 percent of all financial transactions across both the government and private sectors to be conducted entirely digitally by the end of 2026.

The Emirates deal follows several other similar partnerships announced recently. For example, Emirates previously inked an agreement with Dubai Finance to advance its digital payment capabilities. Crypto.com also partnered with Dubai Finance to enable digital payments for government services.

For Crypto.com, this airline agreement pushes the reach of its Pay feature far beyond standard retail merchants. It serves as a prominent example of cryptocurrency payment infrastructure moving into mainstream consumer services rather than staying trapped within crypto-native circles.

While this represents one of the most visible airline implementations of cryptocurrency payments so far, it does have limitations. The availability is currently restricted to eligible UAE residents and applies only to bookings priced in AED. Neither company has disclosed if they plan to expand support to other markets or currencies soon.

Founded in 1985, Emirates remains one of the largest international airlines in the world. Crypto.com was established in 2016 and operates a global trading and payments platform serving millions. Together, their partnership highlights how regulated crypto providers are successfully teaming up with traditional enterprises as digital assets merge with everyday commerce.
