Anyone who has sent a family photo to a digital frame knows the small letdown that can follow. The picture arrives with its edges trimmed, or with black bars down both sides, because the screen and the photo do not share the same shape. Pexar, the consumer brand from Lexar, designed its new VivKeep Pro 12.5″ digital picture frame to address exactly that problem.
The frame uses a 4:3 panel, a proportion that sits close to what many phone cameras capture. Pexar calls it a Photo Native display, and the practical result is less cropping and fewer black bars. The 12.5″ screen runs at 2120 by 1590 pixels, which comes to 212 pixels per inch. By Pexar’s own comparison, it offers 67 percent more viewing area than a typical 10″ frame, so portraits and landscape shots have more room.
Pexar lists 100 percent sRGB color, a 1600:1 contrast ratio, 400 nits of brightness and a 170 degree IPS panel. A light sensor adjusts brightness to the room. The glass is etched to reduce reflections and laminated directly to the display, a useful detail for a frame that will sit on a sideboard near a window. The touchscreen also carries a coating that resists fingerprints, so it stays clean after swiping and zooming.

Everyday use runs through the free Frameo app. Relatives can send photos from their own phones, deliver them to several frames at once, and add captions or tap a heart to react. Pexar describes setup as a one minute job: connect the frame to Wi-Fi, scan a code and start sending. Wi-Fi is needed only to receive new pictures, so the slideshow keeps playing offline. Photos can also be loaded from an SD card or USB drive, and a calendar mode lets the frame double as a household planner.
Storage is generous. The frame carries 64GB internally, which Pexar estimates at up to 120,000 photos at 400 KB each, and it can be expanded with an SD card or USB drive sold separately. Photos stay on the frame instead of in a cloud account, and Pexar lists GDPR, CCPA and PSTI compliance. The frame comes in a Soft Gold finish, rotates automatically between portrait and landscape, and plugs into a power source, since it has no battery.

The brand is also stepping beyond frames this year. Its PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock, a Thunderbolt 5 desktop dock with 22 ports and a 5 inch touch dashboard that shows connected devices, power readings and temperature, is currently on Kickstarter.
Aimed at photographers, video editors and other creators, it adds CFexpress Type B, SD and microSD card readers, plus a slot for the user’s own NVMe SSD. The super early bird price is $479 against a planned retail price of $649, and the dock was named a 2026 IFA Innovation Awards Honoree in the Content Creation Technology category.

The VivKeep Pro 12.5″ is priced at $249.99 and has been available at pexar.com and on Amazon. Purchases through the Pexar site include free shipping, a 30 day guarantee and lifetime customer support, which makes the frame an easy gift for relatives who would like their family photos on the shelf without managing any settings themselves.
