How is AI impacting the Automobile Industry?

AI Automobile Industry

When we talk about Artificial Intelligence (AI), they are not specific to certain industries. Their adaptability has made them the favorites in all the industries and sectors that you can name or think of. One such industry where AI is rapidly making progress is the automobile industry.

AI has done a fantastic job in manufacturing cars with interesting features. You need to acquire a driver’s license to drive any car today. If you are in the phase of planning for getting a permit, you need to go through the knowledge test, also known as g1 in Canada, initially. After you go through the g1 practice test, you can get a glance at the type of questions you may be asked on the real test.

In a brief note, AI is impacting the automobile industry by creating different systems and services discussed below.

1) Autonomous vehicles

‘Autonomous vehicle’ is the hottest topic in the automobile industry that aims to bring about a huge breakthrough in the mobility system of humankind. The autonomous vehicle can move around without any human input. The AI system installed in this vehicle allows it to sense the environmental states and move accordingly.

2) Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)

In today’s automobile industry, the introduction of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) has reduced direct labor costs, removed worker shortages, and improved productivity.

AGVs are commonly used in factories or warehouses to transport items from one location to another, but they have a number of other potential applications such as delivering packages. The use of AGVs is growing as manufacturers try to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

3) Driver Monitoring System

The driver monitoring system allows the vehicle to monitor and react to driver behavior, such as drowsiness, distraction, or poor driving. It uses sensors to capture data about the driver and uses algorithms to determine whether the driver is safe to drive. If a driver fails to follow safety rules, the vehicle may warn the driver.

4) Personalized Vehicles

Driving a car can be a significant way for someone to express themselves. That’s why some automobile companies are using AI capabilities to make sure that their customers get to buy the cars that match their expectations. Such companies are proposing car packages based on drivers’ specific tastes using their configuration system, the ‘Recommendation Engine’, which is powered by Machine Learning.

5) In-car assistance

There was a time when only high-end luxury cars used to have in-car voice assistance. But now, due to the disruptive expansion of AI in the automobile industry, AI features such as in-car voice recognition, computer vision-enabled owner recognition, etc. have been installed in cheaper, normal vehicles also.

AI will be able to assist drivers with tasks such as finding the fastest route, identifying traffic signals, and recognizing road signs. This technology will allow drivers to enjoy their commute without having to worry about the road, or if they’re going the right way.

The AI thing is something that is here to stay. So, it is certain that the scope of AI applications in the automobile industry will keep expanding with time.
