From conversations about the future of global finance to AI, startups and emerging technologies, these are three events worth having on the calendar if you are heading to Lisbon this fall.
1. Meridian 2026 by Stellar
October 28–29, 2026 | Convento do Beato, Lisbon
Meridian 2026, Stellar’s annual flagship conference, returns to Lisbon for two days focused on the technologies and ideas shaping the future of global finance.
Hosted at Convento do Beato, Meridian brings together developers, founders, fintech professionals, financial institutions and policymakers. This year’s programming spans keynotes, fireside chats, technical sessions, workshops and ecosystem showcases, with a strong focus on how blockchain technology is being applied to real-world financial infrastructure.
The 2026 speaker lineup includes Anthony Scaramucci of SkyBridge Capital, Nadine Chakar, Global Head of DTCC Digital Assets, Michael Shaulov, CEO and co-founder of Fireblocks, Ginger Baker, VP of Product Management at Meta, and Jamie Walker, Head of Digital Assets and Money Movement at U.S. Bank.
For builders, the main conference is preceded by HackMeridian on October 25–26, giving developers, founders and technical teams two additional days to build products on Stellar.
With finance, blockchain, payments and technology increasingly converging, Meridian offers a more focused setting for exploring where the next generation of financial infrastructure is heading.
2. Web Summit 2026
November 9–12, 2026 | MEO Arena, Lisbon
Few technology events need as much introduction as Web Summit. Returning to Lisbon from November 9–12, the conference is expected to bring more than 70,000 people together across the startup, investment and technology ecosystems.
Its scale is part of the attraction. Rather than concentrating on a single sector, Web Summit covers everything from AI and SaaS to fintech, venture capital, marketing and the creator economy.
The announced 2026 lineup includes Cloudflare co-founder and CEO Matthew Prince, Replit President and Head of AI Michele Catasta, Atlassian co-founder and CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes, European Commission Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen and investors from firms including Accel and Andreessen Horowitz.
For founders in particular, Web Summit is as much about who is in the audience as who is on stage. The event brings startups into the same ecosystem as global investors, journalists, developers and executives, making Lisbon one of the busiest networking destinations in tech for the week.
3. Portugal Tech Week 2026
November 6–15, 2026 | Lisbon and across Portugal
Portugal Tech Week takes a different approach. Rather than concentrating everything into one conference venue, the festival spreads technology and innovation events across Portugal from November 6–15. The organizers describe it as the country’s largest decentralized innovation festival, with hundreds of events expected across multiple cities.
For visitors staying in Lisbon, the centerpiece is PTW Palace, running November 9–13. The five-day program is designed to bring together founders, investors, researchers, creatives and policymakers through talks, workshops, panels and demos. Organizers expect more than 3,000 founders from over 50 countries to participate in the Palace program.
The decentralized format also makes Portugal Tech Week a useful complement to the larger conferences happening around the same time. Instead of spending every day inside one venue, attendees can move between community events, startup gatherings and more specialized discussions taking place throughout Lisbon.
Lisbon’s Tech Season Is Getting Crowded
From Meridian’s focused discussions around global finance and blockchain infrastructure to the massive international audience of Web Summit and the community-driven format of Portugal Tech Week, Lisbon offers three very different ways to plug into the technology ecosystem this fall.
And with Meridian arriving at the end of October before Portugal Tech Week and Web Summit take over the city in November, there is plenty of reason for founders, investors and builders to make Lisbon part of their fall travel calendar.
