Lahore: The Influencers Cricket League (ICL) is preparing for a significantly expanded second edition, with founder and CEO Zaraq Nazir promising a bigger, more competitive and digitally advanced tournament as organisers look to strengthen the league’s position in Pakistan’s evolving sports entertainment landscape.
Scheduled to take place in October 2026, ICL Season 2 will build on the momentum generated by its inaugural edition, introducing several new features aimed at enhancing competition, fan engagement and commercial value. Organisers say the upcoming tournament will combine professional event management with the growing influence of Pakistan’s digital creator community, offering audiences a fresh blend of cricket and entertainment.
Nazir said the league’s primary objective is to continue raising standards while creating opportunities for creators, brands and emerging sporting talent.
“We have learned a great deal from the first season, and our focus now is to deliver a tournament that is stronger in every department,” Nazir said. “From production quality and competition to fan engagement and digital storytelling, we want every aspect of Season 2 to reflect the growth of the league. Our ambition is to establish ICL as Pakistan’s premier creator-led cricket competition.”
Among the most notable additions for the upcoming season will be the introduction of a professional player auction and franchise draft system. League officials believe the new format will create a more transparent and competitive process for team selection while generating additional excitement before the tournament begins.
The organisers are also planning to expand commercial partnerships, attract new sponsors and enhance the overall match-day experience through improved production, interactive fan activities and broader digital coverage across multiple online platforms.
According to Nazir, modern sporting events must extend beyond the action on the field to remain relevant for younger audiences, who increasingly consume sports through social media, short-form video and digital content.
“Today’s fans want more than just cricket,” he said. “They want behind-the-scenes access, creator interaction, engaging content and an entertainment experience that continues before, during and after every match. That is the direction in which global sport is moving, and we want ICL to be part of that evolution in Pakistan.”
Founded by Nazir, a UK-based Pakistani entrepreneur, digital content creator and sports innovator, the Influencers Cricket League was created to bring together Pakistan’s rapidly growing community of online creators through the country’s most popular sport. The concept combines competitive cricket with digital entertainment, allowing influencers from various social media platforms to represent franchise teams while engaging millions of followers online.
Since its launch, the league has sought to create a professionally managed environment that appeals not only to content creators but also to brands looking to connect with younger, digitally active audiences.
The first edition of the tournament exceeded organisers’ expectations and demonstrated the commercial potential of creator-led sporting events in Pakistan. Hosted at Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala, the competition attracted large crowds throughout the tournament while generating millions of views across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.
Eight franchise teams competed during the inaugural season, featuring some of Pakistan’s most recognisable digital personalities. The tournament blended competitive cricket with live entertainment, creator interactions and extensive social media coverage, offering a different experience from traditional domestic sporting events.
Among the headline participants were Rajab Butt, Nadir Ali, Sid Mr Rapper and Nadeem Mubarak, whose involvement helped attract both cricket enthusiasts and followers from across Pakistan’s digital creator community.
The opening championship was won by Lahore Badshah, led by Rajab Butt, providing the league with a memorable conclusion and helping establish its identity within the country’s expanding sports entertainment sector.
League officials believe the success of the inaugural edition has laid a strong foundation for future growth. They expect Season 2 to attract greater commercial interest as brands increasingly recognise the marketing potential of combining live sport with influencer-driven digital engagement.
Industry observers have noted that creator-led sporting events have gained momentum internationally by bringing together entertainment, social media personalities and competitive sport to reach younger audiences. Organisers say ICL aims to adapt that model to Pakistan while maintaining cricket as the central focus of the competition.
Nazir believes the league also provides an opportunity to strengthen collaboration within Pakistan’s creator economy by giving influencers from different platforms a shared stage while encouraging partnerships with businesses, sponsors and production teams.
He added that long-term planning remains central to the league’s vision, with organisers committed to improving operational standards each year rather than focusing solely on short-term success.
“Our vision has always been much bigger than a single tournament,” Nazir said. “We want to build a sustainable platform that continues to grow, introduces new opportunities for creators and partners, and delivers an experience that fans look forward to every year.”
Preparations for the second edition are already underway, with organisers expected to announce additional details regarding participating franchises, player registrations, commercial partners and the tournament schedule in the coming months.
As anticipation builds ahead of October 2026, league officials remain confident that the next edition will represent another step forward for creator-led cricket in Pakistan. By combining competitive matches with professional production, digital innovation and audience engagement, the Influencers Cricket League hopes to further establish itself as one of the country’s fastest-growing sports entertainment properties and a regular feature on Pakistan’s cricket calendar.
