Wrapping Specialists WrapUK Clarify How EV Growth Is Changing Commercial Fleet Branding

Vinyl wrapping experts, WrapUK, explain the impacts of fleet electrification on vehicle customisation

WrapUK, a premium vehicle wrapping and bespoke fleet branding specialist based in Chichester, West Sussex, has highlighted how the ongoing growth of electric and hybrid vehicles is influencing the way businesses approach fleet customisation projects.

The transition towards eco-friendly vehicles is becoming more noticeable across commercial fleets, with companies balancing their environmental objectives with the practicalities of controlling costs and replacing vehicles when needed. Many are investing in ultra-efficient models and looking for ways to protect those investments long-term.

How the Adoption of EVs is Changing the Fleet Wrapping Market

Company owner, Edd Marchant-Lane from WrapUK explains that ‘We’re seeing businesses think more carefully about how their fleets might change in the next few years, especially as electric vehicles become a bigger part of fleets that were once dominated by diesel lorries and trucks.

The key is to ensure branding continues to deliver as firms make this transition, with vehicles that look professional and maintain a consistent brand identity, while also being able to update graphics in line with new marketing campaigns or promotions.’

The latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that battery electric vehicle (BEV) registrations increased by 44.5% in the year to July 2026, with over 43,000 new vehicles registered that account for 27.5% of the monthly new car market.

Fleet deliveries also jumped upward by 9.5%, representing nearly six in 10 of all new registrations during the month. This data shows how businesses are becoming more likely to replace older vehicles with newer, more efficient models, and has contributed to a change in priorities for fleet managers.

This trend isn’t limited to fleets, with SMMT also reporting that electric van registrations reached a record 14.7% market share in July, with registrations growing almost three quarters year on year.

For companies, the challenge may be that EVs and hybrids often have different vehicle shapes, bodywork panels and models than older fuel-powered vehicles. This means wrap designs need to be adaptable and customised to potentially multiple lorries, rather than being designed based on one vehicle spec.

In turn, this has led more organisations to look at modular wrapping processes and digitised designs which can be replicated to match the size and model of each vehicle within a fleet, while maintaining the same recognisable branding companies want their audiences to see.

Why More Businesses Are Investing in Protective Fleet Wraps

Edd goes on to explain that another emphasis is on ensuring newly installed wraps continue to perform for longer, with companies often looking for advice about the right wrap brands or designs that will protect the vehicle’s original paintwork, while continuing to look bold and capture attention.

He says ‘Buying and customising new vehicles can represent a significant outlay, and we’re seeing more clients look at high-quality durable wraps and ceramic coatings. The latter can be applied to surfaces to provide extra protection against contaminants, but also makes fleets easier to maintain, helping keep newer EVs looking the part throughout their working lives.’

Some of the other trends WrapUK has noticed include:

  • Growing demand for removable, temporary wraps for high-profile promotions
  • Greater use of sustainable vinyl wraps and decals as alternatives to permanent paintwork
  • Development of campaigns that highlight the environmental credentials of updated EV fleets

SMMT has forecast that BEVs will continue to feature strongly within the UK’s new car market, projected to account for 27.4% of sales this year, which means electrification may become even more of a consideration for businesses planning the future of their fleets.

For WrapUK, this changing landscape means fleet branding is about more than adding company logos, but about giving businesses flexibility in how they customise their vehicles and extract maximum value and impact from each wrap.
