In a rare and unexpected social media post, Rockstar North’s longtime art director Aaron Garbut (@aarongarbut) offered fans a fleeting look at Grand Theft Auto VI development material that has sparked a fresh wave of leak discussion.
“Slow day at the office.
GTA 6 drops November 19th.
Here’s a little sneak peak of one of the new stores in Leonida… sorry I can’t show more, but trust me this is gonna be the biggest GTA yet!”
Accompanying the post was short footage of an interior store environment in the state of Leonida. A clear ticker or interface element displaying $VICE (Vice Bucks) is visible on a counter or terminal.
The appearance of the previously unseen $VICE currency has rapidly circulated across X, gaming forums, Discord, and other platforms as a notable leak element. Related shares have begun disappearing — consistent with Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive’s rapid content-removal practices for unauthorized material.
GTA VI Release Date Confirmed
Grand Theft Auto VI remains scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Context on the $VICE Currency Leak
The leaked reference to Vice Bucks ($VICE) has prompted intense discussion among fans about possible new economic systems in GTA VI. Some speculate it could represent an in-universe digital or satirical currency, in line with Rockstar’s long-standing tradition of parodying finance, crypto, and modern payment systems.
Because the footage originates from a development build, it is unclear whether $VICE is a finalized feature, an experimental system, or a temporary placeholder. Rockstar has issued no official comment on the currency or the post.
Rockstar’s History with Leaks and Internal Controls
Rockstar maintains extremely strict nondisclosure agreements. Any sharing of internal builds — even limited “sneak peeks” — carries significant professional and legal risk.
The company has previously demonstrated aggressive enforcement following the major 2022 breach. While this latest material appears limited to a single short clip shared by a senior staff member, the swift removal of reposts indicates the same coordinated cleanup approach is underway.
Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not issued a public statement at this time.
This remains an early, unofficial glimpse. All details about final gameplay systems, including any currency mechanics, are subject to change until Rockstar provides official information.
