Uber Announces New Product Updates

Uber Technologies Inc. announced several new product updates today at the company’s annual Go-Get showcase in New York City, which aims to save its users money on meals as well as rides.

TakeAway Points:

  • Uber unveiled a number of new product changes on Wednesday in New York City during its yearly Go-Get event.
  • The business unveiled Uber Shuttle, a service that lets customers book seats in a car going to a variety of locations, including airports and concert halls.
  • According to Uber, carers will have the ability to order food and medical supplies, as well as schedule rides for their loved ones.

Uber’s New Products

The product upgrades are a reflection of Uber’s ongoing efforts to stimulate demand and growth in both its delivery and mobility business areas. The addition of these capabilities may aid the company in growing its rider and app user base.

Uber Shuttle

Passengers can book seats on an Uber Shuttle in case they are looking for a less expensive way to travel to the airport, place of employment, or live events like concerts and sporting events.

Uber has established partnerships with nearby shuttle firms to transport users to their intended location. According to Uber, the shuttle services use drivers with commercial licences, and customers can rate and tip them right within the Uber app.

Seats on the shuttles will range from 14 to 55. Users will receive a ticket with a QR code and can reserve up to five seats up to seven days in advance. Twenty-five minutes before the shuttle’s scheduled departure, passengers can check its location.

The shuttle, according to the business, will cost a “fraction of the price” of an UberX journey. Surge pricing will not affect the journey.

Uber plans to launch the service this summer at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami as well as a few event locations in Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Uber stated that it will eventually increase the offering.

Uber Caregiver

Beginning this summer, users can add carers directly to their profiles if they depend on them for assistance in their daily lives. Carers will be able to order groceries and medical supplies, as well as schedule transportation for the individuals they look after.

Additionally, the feature will enable three-way conversations between carers, riders, and drivers.

Uber stated that users can reduce their out-of-pocket expenses by applying their insurance benefits when appropriate. Medicaid recipients, Medicare Advantage enrollees 65 and older, and consumers with employer-sponsored commercial insurance will be the first groups Uber Carer serves.

When new insurance companies are added, carers can sign up to get notifications.

Costco

In addition, Costco will be accessible through Uber Eats as an on-demand option in a few U.S. locales starting on Wednesday, according to Uber.

Even if a user is not a member of Costco, they may still order things from the store, but Uber claims that members receive savings of 15% to 20%.

Members of Costco are entitled to 20% off Uber One, the company’s subscription membership, by entering their member numbers in the Uber Eats app.

UberX Share Scheduling

Uber announced its new service, which will allow users to book a shared ride in advance. According to the firm, the function will save users, on average, 25% when compared to an UberX ride. Travellers have up to ten minutes to plan their itineraries.

The first cities where scheduled UberX Share rides will be available are those with some of the highest rates of return to office. New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and San Diego are among them. Uber says more places will come.

Uber One for Students

Also, college students can sign up for Uber’s Uber One membership programme at a discounted rate. Students will be able to access the programme for $4.99 per month instead of the regular $9.99 per month.

According to the corporation, students would also have access to exclusive offers and freebies, such as daily discounts on their Taco Bell, Domino’s, and Starbucks orders.

In May, the Uber One Student Plan will go live in the United States. In July, it will launch in Canada, New Zealand, Mexico, and Australia; in September, it will expand to Japan and France.

Uber Eats Entire Catalogues

Uber Eats is launching a new feature called “Lists” that lets users create and share lists of their favourite restaurants and locations. Examples from the company were “date night sweets” and “toddler-approved” dinners.
