Travelling Checklist for Going on Hajj

Hajj

If you embark on an annual holy journey, you must prepare yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually. Some people are anxious to collect specific items on their travel checklist for going to Hajj. Never shift on others to get complete guidance about the travel checklist.

Performing Hajj is one of the greatest blessings from Allah (SWT), it is a mandatory duty for Muslims. You will need to pack many things for this journey, like a passport, travel vouchers, etc. After booking your Hajj packages, you must take care of these essentials. If you forget important items on the travel checklist, you may be immediately deported from the Kingdom.

Let us focus on all the things that are necessary for Hajj.

Travelling Checklist for Going on Hajj

  • Passport including Visa
  • Airline Tickets
  • Hotel Vouchers
  • Identity Cards
  • Transport Vouchers
  • Health Certificate
  • Relationship certificate
  • Identity Photographs
  • Money

The following points will serve as a quick packing guide before your flight:

Passport including Visa

One of the most important things to have with you while travelling is your passport. No country in the world will issue you a visa without it. Keep your passport with you, especially at the time of departure from the airport. Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, the Hajj authorities will check your passport along visa. So, don’t forget to add it to your checklist.

Airline Tickets

An airline ticket is an e-record that an airline or travel agency issues to confirm an aeroplane seat. You should have valid airline tickets to travel. It must contain your name, issuing airline and a ticket number. Most UK people prefer electronic airline tickets to travel for pilgrimage.

Hotel Vouchers

These are the documents containing an affirmation of a hotel reservation. Confirmation of hotel vouchers should be on your checklist while booking your Hajj package. Without it, you will not be able to stay in hotels in Mecca and Medina.

Identity Cards

Never forget your identity cards while travelling to other countries. An ID card provides you with an authentic identity. Especially in Saudi Arabia, where one’s identity can be checked at various points. If you are a resident of the UK but do not hold British citizenship, you will need to provide your original ID when checking in to Saudi Arabia.

Transport Vouchers

The transport voucher contains the route and the name of your transporter. A traveller can get it individually and from the agencies that book his Hajj package. During Hajj, a pilgrim travels from Mecca to Mina, Mina to Arafat, Muzdalifah to Mina and finally back to Mecca.

It is a bit hard to do this journey on foot without a vehicle, but some try to do it with their own feet. But the number of pilgrims who complete this entire route on foot is less. You must include a transport voucher in your Hajj checklist.

Health Certificate

An official certificate containing details of one’s health condition is called a health certificate. This document needs to be signed by a medical expert to be valid. If someone has conditional or serious diseases, then he should have a health insurance certificate. It will be proof to provide against your diseases.

Relationship certificate

If a woman travels with a man to Saudi Arabia, she will show a relationship certificate. In other words, it may be called a Mahram relation. A man’s relation to a woman is by birth, blood, food, etc. However, according to current policies of KSA, women can now perform Hajj without Mahram. However, the policy has certain conditions to apply.

Identity Photographs

Bring at least four more pictures with you to Saudi Arabia. These might be compulsory for paperwork and other processes along the way. If your ID card is lost, photos will help you.

Money

Take enough cash with you to cover your expenses. Create a budget before leaving. When you arrive in Saudi Arabia, you can exchange money for Saudi Riyals upon arrival airport, or money changers in Mecca and Medina.

Order and assemble all of your equipment in the right way. Keep all the necessary things on your top checklist. At least a week before your departure, make sure everything is ready. One may also bring other objects for personal use, like toothpaste, soaps, sunblock, shoes etc. To confirm you have everything, print out the Hajj Checklist, make any necessary additions and use it.

Be sure to pack a special bag for the Hajj days. Women must have at least 3 to 4 dresses for Ihram state. You can perform your pilgrimage by booking your Hajj packages from an ATOL-protected Travel Agency such as Labbaik Hajj Umrah.
