After effectively spearheading Zest Bittla IT Solutions, Bittla transformed himself into a corporate training mentor, software test engineer, and manager at Mentor Global Inc. As a veteran corporate trainer, he computed bounding boxes, which led him to advocate for inclusion and diversity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, through which he actively participated in UST Global’s Step IT Up America initiative.
The Step It Up America program endeavored to close the gender and diversity gaps within the STEM fields by providing training and job opportunities to minority women within the tech industry. Bittla contributed immensely toward the success of the program by testing Mentor Global’s internal Learning Management System Appium automation for iOS and Android testing. His measures streamlined the efficacy and breadth of training coverage, thereby providing a seamless experience for the learners. As Program Manager for Step IT Up QA initiative, he provided custom quality assurance training to several students in different parts of the U.S with the aid of UST Global’s COE, which ensured that the curriculum delivered was relevant to the industry.
His collaboration with industry partners such as SALT and Social DNA Labs resulted in the development of real-life QA training materials. He ensured that courses exposed participants to work with leading technology companies. He was the one responsible for training the trainers and the students and supervising the implementation of the program, performance evaluation, and career development for junior software engineers. He used the principles of ISTQB/ASTQB best practices to develop test strategies, execution plans, and automation frameworks heuristic, ensuring that they received rigorous training on industry-standard practices.
His work at Mentor Global inspired great change. He single-handedly trained over 350 women, minorities, and veterans and played a huge role in placing employment opportunities with Fortune 500 companies such as Penske Logistics. His graduates from the training programs achieved an 81% retention rate in IT positions, which highlights the effectiveness of his career development programs and workforce retention activities. His training was customized for the industry and led to the direct placement of candidates from contractor positions to full-time hires.
