SpiderDAO Partners with BOTLabs to Bring Anonymous and Verifiable Credentialing to the SpiderDAO Platform

SpiderDAO

Using BOTLabs’ KILT protocol, SpiderDAO will bring anonymous, blockchain-guaranteed verification and credentials to the SpiderDAO router network.

SpiderDAO has partnered with BOTLabs to integrate a new and innovative blockchain-based identification protocol into its network. Using BOTLabs’ KILT protocol, SpiderDAO will be able to integrate Verifiable Credentials (VCs) and Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) across its network of routers and connectivity devices.

KILT uses blockchain technology for issuing anonymous and verifiable credentials and identifiers. These credentials and identifiers can be used to represent your identity without revealing data you wish to keep private. It can be used to bring trusted, real-world verifiable documents and credentials such as passports, driver’s licenses, and birth certificates to the digital world while ensuring that all of your data remains private and in your possession.

KILT can also create IDs and credentials for machines, services, and devices, including routers, which is the basis for the new partnership with the SpiderDAO project.

Benefits

Verifiable credentials that are decentralized yet certifiable mark an important development in the data privacy and protection space. With KILT-based identifiers that can be used to issue, read, and verify credentials on SpiderDAO’s VPN network, SpiderDAO can ensure consumer privacy while guaranteeing that users enjoy world-class service levels. SpiderDAO’s partnership with BOTLabs will also help prevent other issues that often emerge in data privacy and security, such as the loss of data control and identity theft.

Nathan Vary, CEO of SpiderDAO, had the following to say about the partnership:

“SpiderDAO is delighted to work with BOTLabs GmbH as they build out their extensive roadmap. We look forward to being able to provide our clients with industry-leading security and offer further protection of their online privacy by utilizing KILT Protocol within our SpiderVPN routers. As more and more users demand decentralized and secure personal data ownership, we anticipate an exciting long-term collaboration.”

Ingo Rübe, Founder of KILT Protocol and CEO of BOTLabs, echoed this sentiment. He said that BOTLabs’ interest in collaborating with SpiderDAO was due to SpiderDAO’s unique approach to governance via machine identity. He said that SpiderDAO has the potential to democratize internet access and that BOTLAbs was happy to be part of the journey.

The KILT protocol became a fully decentralized blockchain in November. Like SpiderDAO, it is built on the Polkadot network and the new partners said they are excited about testing new tools for advancing governance initiatives for the benefit of all.

SpiderDAO provides a decentralized router and app-based VPN service for its users by using a dual-governance model that brings together hardware and software tools with on-chain elements. The project was launched in 2020 and the team aims to build a new set of standards for Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) to counteract the unfair distribution of voting power exerted by “whales” in digital, crypto, and blockchain ecosystems. Combining hardware safeguards and leveraging the Polkadot consensus mechanism, SpiderDAO establishes a whale-resistant mechanism while creating a highly scalable, interoperable, and stable governance system.
