Social Discovery Ventures, a consumer technology company, investment fund, and venture studio building Social Life 3.0, today revealed that it has joined other industry experts in hosting the Web3Souls Hackathon. The competition will take place in the metaverse from November 28 to December 5, 2022, and cash prizes totaling $10,000 will be awarded to the three winning teams. The Web3Souls Hackathon is dedicated to supporting decentralized society (DeSoc) projects and will bring leading Web3 companies, investors, and developers together in one place for an unprecedented show of skill and innovation on the latest technology.
Social Discovery Ventures views DeSoc as a critical component of its work to shape the future of Social Life 3.0. Recently, the company committed $20 million to help create the best experiences possible in virtuality. The company believes that Web3 and metaverse technologies will enable people to build new types of relationships digitally across the world.

The hackathon is being organized in partnership with researchers of the future Maff Ecosystem and will include lectures from Web3 experts, meetups, community contests, prizes, and an after-party in the metaverse. Participants will also get hands-on experience with the concept of a Decentralized Society by choosing to solve a problem in one of the following categories:
- Soulbound Tokens (SBT)
- Lending platforms, financial cases, expert networks, and oracles
- Digital identification
- Digital courts
- Reputation, ratings, calculation mechanisms, and algorithms
- Web3 social networks, integration with DAO
The first-place team will receive $5,000. The second-place team will receive $3,000. And $2,000 will go to the team that places third. Each Hackathon participant will also receive commemorative NFTs.
