Reddit Partners with Major Sports Leagues
Reddit, the social news website and forum announced on Monday a partnership program with some of the biggest US Major Sports Leagues like the National Football League (NFL), the National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), the PGA TOUR, and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).
The aim of the partnership is to increase the fan experience on Reddit by bringing in more of the content that fans love to Reddit’s communities with new advertising opportunities for advertisers to align with this content via video ads, AMAs, and other formats.
Reddit said that through its partnerships with the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA TOUR, and NASCAR, its users will now have access to video highlights from games and tournaments, player AMAs, behind-the-scenes videos, and content posted by the leagues throughout their seasons, including during major events like the Super Bowl and NBA All-Star.
Reddit’s Chief Operating Officer, Jen Wong, said in a comment that major league sports will now have the opportunity to reach a wider audience on Reddit.
“Reddit is the go-to destination for sports fans around the world because it’s the place where they can dive deeper than anywhere else, and connect with other fans beyond the season and throughout the year. The country’s major sports leagues see the opportunity to reach global audiences on Reddit. We’re continuing to build more ways for businesses and organizations to engage with Reddit’s communities; this benefits our communities, program partners, and advertisers,” Wong said.
Brent Lawton, NFL VP of Business Development and Strategic Investments, said that the NFL trusts Reddit to increase the fan experience and that they will renew their partnership with them.
“Building on five years of incredible collaboration, the NFL believes in the power of Reddit to enhance the fan experience. By renewing our partnership, we can continue engaging with Reddit’s growing NFL fan base and provide powerful content to advertisers looking for an NFL audience,” Lawton said.
