RE/MAX Colonial Arrives in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico with Thó and Lucia Waring at the Helm

After operating successfully in San Miguel for nearly 30 years, RE/MAX Colonial’s first luxury group finally arrived in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico (SMA).

Today, the designation of luxury pertains as much to experience and service as to the specifics of the property. Thó Waring and Lucía Garza, GTO licensed real estate agents, have been selected under the umbrella of RE/MAX Colonial

Thó, as he is affectionately called by his friends and colleagues, has an investment and finance background. He has been actively engaged in the real estate market since 1998, and full-time investor and developer since 2000. Furthermore, his family has lived in Mexico for over 30 years so he feels a very deep connection to the area, and is passionate about sharing what the country, and San Miguel De Allende specifically, has to offer.

Lucia relocated from Monterrey several years ago, and she has advanced degrees in both engineering and science. She also holds a Ph.D. and her professional career includes investment experience with fix and flips in Monterrey as well as business consulting with her father. Lucia enjoys running, yoga, and time in the gym. She’s also committed to eating well and taking care of herself with the knowledge that self-care is essential to any successful individual. Furthermore, she loves to read and enjoys spending time with her partner, Thó. Family is at the heart of Lucia’s life, and looking after her mother brings her a true sense of contentment.

Thomas’s market observations as of December 2022: “In a word? Busy! Mexico offers people many advantages, and we are seeing folks from everywhere. For example, the cost of living is much lower than in the United States and often includes weekly domestic and gardening services. The food is also plentiful, particularly in the heart of Mexico where we are, San Miguel de Allende.”

He continues, “Lucía and I have had many phone calls over the last few years from friends in the United States and Mexico asking about conditions, food, water, prices, and overall living in San Miguel. It seems as though, regardless of one’s political persuasion, people are interested in making a move out of the United States.”

RE/MAX has many options available. Below is a great example of a fabulous option, ten short minutes from town and overlooking the Picachos Mountains; clean, fresh air surrounded by open space and quiet. This spectacular single-family home has 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 5,000 interior finish square foot of ge; about 468 square meters. The home is a wonderful combination of traditional Mexican finishes with soft modern touches throughout. Warm earth tones are shown throughout this well-maintained home.

The common areas in the house have a nice open floor plan: the kitchen flows into the dining room which flows into the living room. There are lots of light and interesting architectural features throughout the area including exposed dark beams on the ceiling, slab granite in the kitchen, and oversized tiles on the floor.

On about 2 1/2 acres, this beautiful piece of property has spectacular, sweeping views. The total size of the land is 84,260 square feet. The property is tastefully filled with mature cacti and succulents that have been well-loved and preserved over the years.  There’s also a separate garage port from the home where several cars can be parked.  Additionally, there is a storage room that can be adapted as a wine cellar.

There’s also enough space for animals, chickens, and sheep. Furthermore, the property has a small orchard with corn, tomatoes, and other delicious veggies. A great advantage is that it has water and a ell.
