Edmílson, a Brazilian football legend and member of Brazil’s 2002 FIFA World Cup-winning squad, will visit Korea on June 23. He will participate as a special judge in the youth global project selection event hosted by PUNKVISM in partnership with the Ansan City Football Association, where he will evaluate young players who may represent the future of Korean football.
Edmílson was a top-class defensive midfielder and central figure for the Brazilian national team. Beginning his career with São Paulo FC, he went on to play on some of the world’s biggest stages with French powerhouse Olympique Lyonnais and Spanish giant FC Barcelona. His spectacular overhead kick against Costa Rica at the 2002 FIFA World Cup remains one of the most memorable moments for football fans around the world. His direct engagement with Korean youth players adds further significance and authenticity to the project.
In line with Edmílson’s visit to Korea, PUNKVISM also plans to release his official limited edition. The project follows PUNKVISM’s previous initiatives with Roberto Carlos and São Paulo FC prospect Welber, extending the company’s global IP licensing series. It further reflects PUNKVISM’s strategy of combining legendary sports narratives with physical collectibles and digital assets.
Through this selection event, a final group of 24 elementary-school youth players will be chosen to travel to Brazil in the second half of this year. Proceeds from the project, including the Edmílson limited edition, will be used to support the youth team’s Brazil campaign and related production costs. This structure reflects PUNKVISM’s philosophy of creating a positive cycle in which membership participation helps support the dreams of the next generation.
Once in Brazil, the youth team will take on a series of challenge matches against youth teams from leading local clubs. PUNKVISM plans to produce content covering the entire journey, sharing the growth story of Korean youth players as they test themselves on the global stage.
Hyunki Hwang, CEO of PUNKVISM, said, “The fact that a living legend like Edmílson will meet young Korean players in person demonstrates the sincerity of this project. PUNKVISM aims to build a circular structure where the story of one player leads to the growth of the next generation, and to share that value with everyone within a borderless global ecosystem.”
