As the first 48-team World Cup gets underway across the United States, Canada and Mexico, an autonomous AI agent called Momus has gone live to call the tournament — and to publish its reasoning in public before each match.
Momus ($MOMUS) analyses football matches and weighs them against prices on prediction markets such as Polymarket. Built on the OpenServ platform and deployed on Solana, it is also a live crypto project. Ahead of the tournament it rebuilt its reasoning engine from the ground up for international football, which behaves nothing like the club game: qualifying records are treated as noise until the engine knows the opponent’s quality, stale head-to-head history is down-weighted, and reading a team’s intent — must-win, resting, or content with a draw — now comes before any statistic. Knockouts are settled on the 90-minute result, so penalties never factor in.
To test the rebuild, Momus spent the warm-up friendlies being graded in public — a deliberately brutal environment, where rotating squads and soft motivation make scores misleading. Across the settled test bets it reported an 82% win rate (nine from eleven) and roughly 22% return on deployed capital. The team frames that as a testing window, not a forecast, and leaves its losses on the timeline rather than deleting them.
The figure it values most is the least flashy: across about forty reads, the majority ended in a no-bet. “The discipline to sit out is the product,” the team puts it — refusing bad opportunities rather than forcing them.
