McAfee and Samsung Partnership Extension

McAfee Corp., a global leader in online protection, on Wednesday announced the extension of its ten-year partnership with Samsung, enabling enhanced protection for online threats to consumers’ privacy, identity, and personal information.

Samsung mobile devices, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Flip6, and Galaxy Z Fold6, come with the Galaxy Store pre-installed. This is where users can download and use the McAfee Security app, McAfee said.

Pedro Gutierrez, Senior Vice President at McAfee, said that by extending their partnership with Samsung, it will help them protect more people online.

“Our continued partnership with Samsung helps us do what matters most: protect more people so they can live their lives online with confidence. With the introduction of Samsung’s new mobile AI experience and McAfee’s continued focus on using AI to fight against AI scams, we’re thrilled to continue our partnership,” Pedro said.

McAfee Security is now available for purchase for existing customers in 98 markets via the Galaxy Store, and consumers can now buy and install the app on their Samsung mobile device, ensuring uninterrupted online protection.

According to a recent Mobile Threat Survey held by McAfee, 90% of people worldwide are concerned about protecting their online privacy and identity when using their mobile phone, and to fight this, the latest Galaxy devices now come equipped with Advanced Intelligence settings, giving users full control over how much they allow their data to enhance AI experiences by disabling online data processing, the company said.

On May 23, 2024, McAfee gave a ‘Safer Summer Travel Report,’ along with the Top 10 ‘Riskiest’ Destinations scammers exploit to lead travelers to malware or risky online sites where they could be scammed.

According to McAfee, Americans’ concerns about cyber threats have merit; nearly one in three (28%) surveyed have fallen victim to a travel-related scam, and a significant portion of these victims—nearly 1 in 4 (24%) have lost $1,000 or more to a single scam.

The popularity of booking-related travel scams varies significantly by age. While around 1 in 3 (28%) of Americans surveyed say they’ve fallen victim to a travel scam when booking, 40% of Americans aged 18-29 say the same, along with just 13% of those aged 50-65.
