Innovative Care Models for Less Cost

Care Models

Gone are the days of scheduling doctors’ appointments six months out and sitting for hours in crowded waiting rooms. The future of healthcare is convenient, affordable, and personable. “Technology finally enables us to take comprehensive healthcare to the next level,” says Dr. Kishlay Anand, co-founder of LitonMD. “Video consultations, same-day prescription delivery, urgent care, and virtual concierge care all work to ensure better health outcomes. Today’s patients have access to high-quality care from real-time providers at a moment’s notice.”

Today’s patients choose their level of care

LitonMD’s app closes the gap between patients and providers by allowing them to choose their own level of care. They can either pay for LitonMD’s Virtual Concierge Service through a monthly subscription or pay for urgent care as needed.

As part of both plans, patients sign-in on the app or web-based platform where a care coordinator connects them with a healthcare provider for a virtual consultation. If needed, prescriptions are made at LitonMD’s pharmacy and delivered to the doorstep that day.

The urgent-care plan provides guaranteed medical attention anywhere, anytime. Patients receive urgent-care visits for $150 per visit. These visits are accompanied by round-the-clock virtual care and free prescription delivery. In the event that a patient’s symptoms cannot be treated through virtual care, there is no charge.

Medical conditions commonly addressed in virtual urgent-care visits include:

  • Illnesses such as common colds, upper respiratory infections, viral infections, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever.
  • Aches and pains such as joint pain, back pain, abdominal pain, headache, migraine,
  • Symptoms of allergies and asthma.
  • Minor musculoskeletal injuries or trauma such as sprains, tendonitis, and bursitis.
  • Skin conditions, such as acne, dermatitis, sunburn, insect bites, impetigo.
  • Hair conditions such as dandruff and alopecia.
  • Infections such as urinary tract infections and ear infections.
  • Other acute conditions such as motion sickness, constipation, COPD, and acid reflux.

The subscription plan offers timely virtual concierge care without co-pays and insurance hassles. “Our virtual concierge care is not insurance,” says Anand. “It’s primary care for you and your loved ones at a low-cost monthly subscription.”

Concierge care is a new concept in healthcare rooted in an almost-forgotten day when physicians made house calls. “Patients don’t have the time to visit their doctors enough,” remarks Anand. “In the concierge model, the time with your doctor is extended, and the doctor meets you where you are through virtual visits. This type of care means the doctor is on your time, versus the other way around.”

The subscription plan offers anytime virtual care, free prescription delivery, unlimited visits, and up to three medications per month for individuals or up to five medications per month for families. “Our care coordinator assesses your symptoms and connects you with the right provider if the symptoms cannot be treated through virtual care,” Anand explains. “A network of skilled providers is on call wherever you go.”

Some common services available through virtual visits include:

  • Treatment of common ailments and minor illnesses.
  • Disease prevention and screening.
  • Prescription management and lab monitoring.
  • Chronic care management of conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, asthma, and COPD.
  • Dietary counseling.
  • Management of minor musculoskeletal injuries.

Telehealth becoming the preferred option for in-person visits

Somewhere along the line, doctors stopped making house calls, and insurance required patients to jump through more and more hoops to schedule their appointments. The emergence of telehealth is changing all of that.

Telehealth services boomed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Avoiding crowded doctor’s offices and pharmacies enabled the trend to gain widespread and almost instant adoption.

One survey indicates that 43% of patients did not know whether or not their providers offered telehealth services before the pandemic. Overall, there was a 154% spike in telehealth visits during the last week of March 2020 compared to the preceding year.

Statistics demonstrate both patients and doctors appreciate the shift. For example, 78% of patients claim they used telehealth and were satisfied with the appointment. In addition, 91% of patients say that telemedicine better enables them to manage appointments and prescriptions and follow regimen recommendations. Physicians also favor virtual visits, with 68% wanting to offer more telehealth services in their practices.

“Through telehealth visits, LitonMD patients receive HIPAA-compliant consultations with 24/7 availability,” Anand comments. “Our service is accessible through an app on both Android and iOS devices. Patients can also access medical care via their computers through an internet platform.”

Comparing LitonMD’s plans to traditional health insurance plans

Traditional health insurance plans range from individual plans for $456 to family plans for $1,152. Healthcare coverage on LitonMD costs $75 for an individual plan, $99 for a couple’s plan, and $249 for a family.

In addition to affordability, LitonMD offers services traditional insurance plans have never provided. Features such as 24/7 virtual care, free prescription delivery, and unlimited doctor’s visits are unheard of when it comes to most benefits plans. With LitonMD, co-pays and additional charges are never part of the monthly bill. All of this adds up to an 80-90% savings in health care costs for LitonMD subscribers.
