Hakan Agro Illustrates How Technological Advancements Affect the Agricultural Business

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the United States had more than 856,000 workers in the agricultural field in 2018. More impressively, the cumulative number of these jobs declined by only 400 from the year before. So, it is safe to say that this industry has remained stable and continues to hold some very impressive figures.

As the markets progress and the economy continues to hit various milestones, industries like agriculture will maintain their prosperity. After all, the current job outlook for this market is forecasted to remain practically the same until 2026 at least. That means individuals who hold positions here can rest assured they will have long term job security.

Although dollar and size-based improvements or signs of consistency are important, they are not the only trends impacting the agricultural market. On the contrary, these are just some of the many examples that help define a certain industry as a lucrative sector for potential investors. What most people look at even closer, however, is the technological growth in the market and the direction in which the innovation is headed. This serves as a good indicator of the mid-term prospects for a given industry.

So, what exactly is the technological outlook in the sphere of agricultural business? A Dubai-based organization that specializes in supply chain management of agricultural goods, Hakan Agro, is here to provide some insight.

Covering More Ground Faster

Some of the more recent changes that have happened in the technological subsector of agriculture are fast and effective methods for covering large areas of farmlands. For example, where farmers are cropping across extensive acres of land the area can be difficult to maintain. Fortunately, technological inventions have given birth to things like advanced, premium-sized tires that make it easier to transport more weight and cover a lot of ground in a timely manner. The reason why this can be directly related to the advancements in technology is the fact that these inventions came with new ways to reduce the tire imprint on the ground, thus increasing coverage area without increasing waste as a byproduct.

According to Hakan Agro, the next advancement would have to pertain to automation. For those unfamiliar, this is a set of inventions that helps agricultural entrepreneurs do more tasks faster by delegating duties to self-guiding tools or computers. For example, some of the tools that have been developed eliminate the likelihood of human error. Consider the devices that rely on GPS tracking and steering, per se. In the past, navigating a large piece of land to work on a specific area could have resulted in a few wasted minutes every time the operator would drift off course. Nowadays, however, the GPS-led transportation systems make it easy to identify the precise location and in turn reducing the risk of any unwarranted errors.

Information Systems

In the past, someone’s agricultural results were mostly limited to their understanding and experience within the industry. Although this is still very important today, there are some other factors that play a crucial role.  The fact that workers can now use computational tools and analytical procedures to analyze their progress helps meet goals faster. For instance, someone who can run a statistical analysis on the last five years of the agricultural company’s performance will be able to isolate the areas of success and failure. They can then eliminate any shortcomings and perpetuate success by figuring out what exactly caused them in the first place.

Better Accessibility and Coverage

Finally, Hakan Agro stresses the importance of accessibility and coverage   for the farmers. In the past, working a large piece of land could mean no mobile service for hours at a time. This gave rise to a lot of risk in cases of accidental injuries that would leave one stranded for prolonged periods. Luckily, farmers will now have some accessibility and mobile coverage regardless of the area size, due to advancements over the years of the software and technology in this subsector.

Easier access to government and private funding towards the improvement of technology in agricultural projects would be advantageous to people in the industry.  As technology is modernized, it is inevitable that automation and accessibility are enhanced leading to more efficient, effective and productive operations.
