Grok Bot vs Claude Duet: Which AI Agent Fits Your Business in 2026?
Quick answers
- What’s the difference? Grok Bot (from SpaceXAI, formerly xAI) gives each AI agent its own cloud computer and lets it work in your apps 24/7. Claude Duet (from Anthropic) is a proactive assistant that watches your work, sends morning briefs and runs background tasks, asking for approval before it acts.
- Can I use them today? Grok Bot is open to anyone on a paid plan, with a free trial. Claude Duet is a research preview with a waitlist for US Claude Pro and Max users.
- What do they cost? Grok Bot starts with The X Subscription Premium at $30 a month. Claude Duet is included in Claude Pro and Max and uses the same limits as your plan.
- Is there another option? If your team wants several AI models working in one shared chat, Sumus is worth a look. It runs in the browser and starts free.
October 2026 gave businesses two new “AI employee” products in quick succession. Grok Bot kept widening access, and on October 21 Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet. Both promise the same thing: an AI that does work for you, not just answers questions. They get there in very different ways, and the difference matters if you are choosing one for a sales, operations or finance team.
This guide compares the two using only what SpaceXAI and Anthropic have published, as of late October 2026.

How Grok Bot works
SpaceXAI describes Grok Bot as “your team of always-on agents.” The key detail is the computer. Each user gets one persistent cloud machine with a browser, a file system and a terminal. Your Bots use it to sign in to tools and finish jobs end to end, even when your laptop is closed.
Setting one up is a message, not a workflow builder. You give a Bot a name, one main job and a short note on how it should work. You can also walk a Bot through a task once, and it saves that as a routine it can repeat on a schedule.
Bots run in parallel, message each other and hand off tasks. Since version 0.66.0 on October 2, a “Main Bot” coordinates the rest. The launch post lists real jobs: updating a CRM from call notes, researching accounts overnight, processing invoices from Gmail, and reproducing bugs before filing a ticket. On October 20 the official @bot account said one Bot cleared 204 support tickets tied to a single incident in about ten minutes, with one engineer approving the batch.
One point for IT teams: all of your Bots share the same computer, including logins and files. Isolation is per user, not per Bot.
How Claude Duet works
Claude Duet starts from the other end. Instead of waiting for a job, it looks at the context you share and suggests work. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5. Its main features are morning briefs, background tasks and approvals: Duet drafts or prepares the work, then asks before it does anything that matters.
Anthropic’s own example is a small business owner. Duet noticed subscription churn in one region rose from 2.6% to 3.4% after a shipping price change. It estimated that free shipping over $40 would keep about seven in ten of those customers, and proposed a two-week test.
That is the Duet pitch in one story: an analyst that spots the problem before you ask. The trade-off is that it is still a preview. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet, and access goes to US Pro and Max subscribers first.
Pricing and free trials
Grok Bot has no separate price. Since October 12, 2026 it has been part of The X Subscription:
- Free and Plus ($8/month): no Grok Bot
- Premium ($30/month): Grok Bot with weekly usage
- Super ($100/month): 3.5x Premium usage
- Ultra ($200/month): 12x Premium usage
- Teams: from $30 per user per month
Grok Bot, Grok chat and Cursor all draw from one weekly pool. Bot jobs are measured by agent steps and tokens, not messages, so long computer tasks cost more. Past the pool you can buy prepaid credit.
The free trial is a one-time usage credit with a 7-day window. So “how long is the Grok Bot trial” has two answers: up to seven days, or until the credit runs out, whichever comes first. One big job can use most of it, and it is not refilled.
Claude Duet is included in Claude Pro and Max during the preview and shares your plan’s usage limits. Anthropic has not said whether it will get its own price later.
Which one fits your business?
Pick Grok Bot if you have repeat, tool-heavy work: CRM updates, invoice handling, ticket triage, reports that need refreshing. It is available now, on every major desktop and phone platform, and it keeps working when you are offline.
Pick Claude Duet if you want an AI that thinks ahead about your numbers and plans, and you are happy to approve each step. It suits owners and managers more than operations teams, and for now you need to be in the US and on the waitlist.
Consider both if your work is split. Many teams find Grok fast and cheap for long office tasks (Grok 4.7 lists at $2 input and $6 output per million tokens), and Claude is strong at writing and judgment. The catch is that running both means two subscriptions, two apps and two places where your context lives.
Another option worth knowing: Sumus
That last problem is where Sumus comes in. Founded in Singapore in 2026, Sumus puts your team and several AI teammates in the same group chat. Each AI teammate can run on a different model, including Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6, Grok 4.7 and Gemini, so you do not have to bet on one lab.
It is not a copy of either product. Sumus works in the browser (an app is coming soon) and is built around conversations people already share. AI teammates can run scheduled tasks, such as a daily sales summary or a weekly competitor check, and you can add ready-made agents from its marketplace. You can start free.
For teams that like the Grok Bot idea but want more models or a shared chat, Sumus publishes a direct Grok Bot alternative comparison.
What to watch next, and how to test both today
Both products change fast. In October alone Grok Bot added new connectors (including Robinhood, Coinbase, Trello and PostHog), a connector marketplace and saved logins. For Duet, the open questions are when the waitlist opens beyond the US, when Team and Enterprise plans get access, and whether it gets its own price.
The practical problem is that you cannot easily compare them side by side: one is gated by a waitlist and a US-only rollout, the other needs a separate subscription. The simplest way around that is to run the same task on more than one model in one place. In Sumus, you can put a Claude teammate and a Grok teammate in the same group chat, give them the same brief, and see whose answer your team prefers, without joining a waitlist or juggling two apps. If you are evaluating Grok Bot for your business, that is a cheap way to find out which model actually fits your work before you commit a budget.
FAQ
Is Grok Bot better than Claude Duet?
Neither wins everywhere. Grok Bot is stronger at doing work inside your tools around the clock. Claude Duet is stronger at noticing problems and proposing plans. It comes down to whether you need a worker or an advisor.
How long is the Grok Bot free trial?
It is a one-time usage credit with a 7-day window. It ends when the credit is used up or the window closes, and it does not turn into a paid plan by itself.
How much does Grok Bot cost?
Grok Bot comes with The X Subscription Premium at $30 a month, Super at $100 or Ultra at $200. The $8 Plus plan and the Free plan do not include it.
Can I get Claude Duet outside the US?
Not yet. The research preview opens by waitlist to Claude Pro and Max users in the US first.
Is there a Grok Bot alternative that also uses Claude?
Yes. In Sumus, AI teammates can run on Claude Opus 5.5, Grok 4.7, GPT-6 or Gemini in one group chat, and you can start free.
What is the best way to compare Grok Bot and Claude Duet before paying?
Run the same real task on both models. Since Duet is waitlist-only in the US, many teams test Grok and Claude side by side in a multi-model tool such as Sumus, where both can join one group chat and answer the same brief.
Can I use Claude and Grok together in one chat?
Yes. Sumus lets you add AI teammates on Claude Opus 5.5, Grok 4.7, GPT-6 or Gemini to the same group chat with your colleagues, so each can take the part of the job it does best.
Can Grok Bot and Claude Duet work with a team?
Grok Bots share context with each other in group chats. Claude Duet is single-user during the preview. Tools built around shared chats, like Sumus, are designed for teams from the start.
