“Building on a collaboration with El Salvador’s Ministry of Education since 2020, we’re proud to support a long-term project putting technology at the center of improving teaching and learning in the nation’s public education system. The first phase began by delivering Google Workspace for Education accounts to all students in public schools and training teachers through the Ministry of Education’s National Institute for Teacher Training (Instituto Nacional de Formación Docente del Ministerio de Educación). We’re supporting the acceleration of that program by delivering the most advanced Google Workspace for Education Plus tools that incorporate AI to personalize the learning experience and introducing Chromebooks, laptops running Chrome OS, an operating system manufactured by Google, for fourth grade students. The next step is to continue training pedagogical managers to multiply the digital skills of teachers and students in El Salvador,” Google said.
The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, said in a post on X that Google had inaugurated its offices in El Salvador.

About El Salvador
El Salvador is a country in Central America. Its borders are on the northeast by Honduras, on the northwest by Guatemala, and on the south by the Pacific Ocean. San Salvador is El Salvador’s capital and largest city. As of 2023, the country’s population was estimated to be 6.5 million.
Earlier this month, the president announced that the are giving 5,000 free passports to highly skilled scientists, engineers, doctors, artists, and philosophers from abroad.
“We’re offering 5,000 free passports (equivalent to $5 billion in our passport program) to highly skilled scientists, engineers, doctors, artists, and philosophers from abroad. This represents less than 0.1% of our population, so granting them full citizen status, including voting rights, poses no issue. Despite the small number, their contributions will have a huge impact on our society and the future of our country. Plus, we will facilitate their relocation by ensuring 0% taxes and tariffs on moving families and assets. This includes commercial value items like equipment, software, and intellectual property,” Nayib said.
