Published by Riverside Insights, the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a reasoning test to measure the cognitive development of a student compared to age mates and grade mates.The CogAT is a nationally standardized test that schools and educators use to identify for the gifted and talented program in schools.
There are three sections, verbal, non-verbal, and quantitative sections, in the exam. There are different levels of the exam for various grades, however, it is important to note that the gifted and talented faculty maytest in different ways and sometimes even only specific sections based on the history of the student.
