First Aid

Safety begins when we are aware of what to avoid and what to do in case of emergencies. It is a two-way process of prevention and early treatment. This is very common in workplaces that are hazardous and accident-prone. However, there is a solution to promote a safe workplace that you can apply in the community. Being in the medical field is an advantage, but a nonmedical person can also contribute to the safety and well-being of the company. You just have to undergo specific First Aid training to gain basic life-saving knowledge and skills.

First aid training is one of the basic skills that is notably useful for all ages. Diggerman Training is a first-aid course provider that is nationally recognized for its work. They are specialized in providing this training for companies involving construction. They are known for their commitment to promoting health and safety practices all over Sunshine Coast.

First aid training is readily available for ages above 14 years old. There are various reasons for taking first aid training. Some do it for work requirements and certification, while others have an additional practical life skill on their list.

There are various types of first aid training that you can choose from depending on what is required. This can range from beginner first aid courses, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedures,  basic and advanced emergency life support.

The training will only take approximately half a day each and will be in two sessions. First is the theory, then the practicum session. The practicum section will gauge the trainee’s skills in first aid procedures. This is an essential part of the training where the theory taught will be applied. The practicum session ensures that the trainee will correctly perform first aid procedures in preparation for actual emergency events.

Once the trainee has completed the sessions, they will receive a wallet card that certifies the completed training. The card also will state the attainment of one nationally recognized unit of competency in the field.

The training will be conducted in their facility where they have the resources to conduct it properly. The trainees will be able to do hands-on procedures on close to actual materials available(e.g. Mannequin for CPR).

At the end of the session, the following objectives should be achieved by the trainee:

Respond to an emergency– The trainee will be able to assess the situation and prioritize his activities while managing the situation.

Apply appropriate first aid procedures-Perform first aid procedures correctly in a time-bound manner.

Communicate details of the incident- The trainee should be aware what is the emergency situation per se and be able to provide details of the events to the appropriate personnel.

Review the incident– This is an important part of the learning process where the trainee is able to identify some issues that require improvement. The trainee will also be commended for the correct emergency response applied in the practicum.

First aid training is a practical life skill that will not only increase your credentials academically but come in handy in times of emergencies. Learn these life-saving skills. You will never know when, where and to whom you can perform it. Your family, colleagues, and the community will be able to benefit from it.
