Recently after the NFT boom, Indian creator and entrepreneur Suraj Beera narrates his own experience and the concepts of the metaverse. Let’s see what he says:
Suraj says the metaverse is the merger of two long-standing concepts: virtual reality and digital afterlife.
“Technologists have envisioned a time when our virtual lives are as significant as our physical ones for decades. In principle, we’d spend a lot of time in virtual space connecting with our friends and coworkers. As a result, we’d spend money on costumes and stuff for our digital avatars there as well.
We must not underestimate the educational implications of an augmented environment. Everything will be transformed into a next-generation learning opportunity, from the night sky to a race vehicle. From the Arctic to the Large Hadron Collider, the classroom may be transferred. Before we condemn the metaverse, we must remember how transformative it will be for educational systems and students all around the world.
By early 2020, education technology settings have been responding to change, with the pandemic disrupting the schooling of 91 percent of pupils globally, according to Unicef. Educators around the world reacted promptly. Remote learning became widespread overnight. As a result, technology became regarded as a basic right rather than a privilege.
In games, there is already a metaverse to some extent. Nevertheless — and this is a significant but — it is rudimentary.
Some metaverse social components can indeed be present in video games. Consider Fortnite, a multiplayer online shooting game that can be played on desktops, consoles, and mobile devices. The common Fortnite user spends hundreds of hours in the game, creating their own avatar and fighting and engaging with other players’ avatars. Players can also earn virtual currency, which they can use to buy clothing and other accessories for their avatars.
Second Life, an online social network founded by Linden Lab over two decades ago, was a forerunner to the metaverse, where users constructed digital avatars of themselves to socialize.
We can use metaverse experiences to play, work, connect, or buy goods (and just to make things extra fun, the things we buy can be real or virtual). It’s also a misconception to refer to “the metaverse” as if it’s a single, connected, or even interoperable reality because it isn’t. Because each entity that produces a virtual environment has its own access, membership, monetization rights, and creative expression formats, the commercial and technological specifications differ significantly. The term “metaverse” refers to the concept of connecting various disparate worlds and experiences, as well as the recognition that we are approaching a more substantial, immersive landscape than ever before”
