Digitizing Healthcare with Cloud Computing; Interview With A. Hadi Chaudhry, CEO and President of CareCloud

A. Hadi Chaudhry, CEO and President of CareCloud

With over 40,000 providers, both big and small, growing their practice with CareCloud, the comprehensive suite of software and services empowers providers to gain control of their future. In this interview with TechBullion, A. Hadi Chaudhry, CEO and President of CareCloud will be telling us more about the services and solutions at CareCloud.

Please tell us more about yourself?

First of all, thank you for providing me this opportunity to speak through your platform. My name is A. Hadi Chaudhry. I was born in Pakistan, and earned my bachelor’s degree in mathematical sciences and statistics, before pivoting to pursue a chartered accountant degree. During this time, I also developed fascination with technology and the digital evolution, so I shifted my career goals again and enrolled in a computer science academic program. This shift eventually led me to join CareCloud – known then as MTBC – in 2002 as an IT manager. I worked alongside CareCloud founder, Mahmood Haq, and shared his vision of a digitized healthcare industry that would simplify things for medical providers and improve care delivery. Years later, I am now the chief executive officer and president of CareCloud, which is a leader in healthcare technology. CareCloud has more than 500 U.S.-based employees and more than 4,000 employees globally.

What is CareCloud?

Founded by American entrepreneur, Mahmad Haq, in 1999 as Medical Transcription Billing, Corp., our healthcare information technology (IT) company went public in 2014 and rebranded to CareCloud in 2021. We now offer an extensive suite of modern, cloud-based clinical, financial and administrative software and services that has empowered U.S. healthcare providers for more than two decades. Our headquarters are in Somerset, New Jersey, but we also operate offices from Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Our solutions and services are in all 50 U.S. states, with 40,000 providers leveraging our products and services in 80 medical specialties.

What are the specific solutions and services you provide by CareCloud?

As one of the largest providers of health IT solutions, CareCloud is uniquely positioned to help providers move past these burdens and easily transition into the next generation of healthcare.

We offer fully-integrated solutions that combine revenue cycle management with electronic health records, practice management software, and patient experience management software that can reduce administrative tasks, streamline workflows, and improve operations, so providers can focus on care delivery. We also offer financial analytics and business intelligence software, home healthcare software solutions, integrated telehealth software, and a digital health suite, which includes remote patient monitoring (RPM) and chronic care management (CCM) software.

Our application ecosystem includes certified health IT that can improve communications, automate repetitive tasks, and analyze data sets for better understanding and improved performance.

Through our medSR division, we can help healthcare organizations select the best information technology system, as well as provide end-user training, revenue cycle optimization, and operational support. Our products range in all kinds of healthcare organizational management software, covering aspects of maintaining revenues, practice loads and financial analysis.

Could you give us a walk-through of the CareCloud comprehensive suite of software and services? What is the technology behind your platform?

CareCloud leverages cloud computing and offers it as a software as a service (SaaS) platform. Our software and solutions have been recognized for excellence by review-based award sites, including KLAS Research, Toyota Financial Services, Business News Daily and more. Our comprehensive suite of solutions is roughly divided into standalone software and suite of care. Standalone solutions include:

  • CareCloud Charts – an electronic health record system
  • CareCloud Breeze – a patient experience management system
  • CareCloud Live – telehealth software
  • CareCloud Central – medical practice management system
  • CareCloud Force – workforce extension services
  • CareCloud Archivus – release of information software
  • CareCloud Precision BI – financial analytics and business intelligence solution
  • CareCloud Concierge – revenue cycle management software and robotic process automation solution
  • CareCloud PracticePro – medical billing software

Currently, we have two software suites:

  • CareCloud Wellness – a digital suite which combines remote patient monitoring and chronic care management software
  • CareCloud Conductor – a suite that includes interoperability software, a claim scrubbing engine, and electronic data interchange system

Our software can be bought a la carte or grouped with each other. All solutions are cloud-based, HIPAA-compliant, and interoperable with CareCloud software, as well as all major vendors’ software.

I highly encourage you to visit our website, www.carecloud.com, to get an in-depth understanding of all solutions. We also provide a free demo for all our solutions, so healthcare leaders can better decide what fits and how they want to customize our solution for their practice.

Who are your clients and customers? Tell us also who is a CareCloud provider and how it works. Any success stories to share with us?

Our clients are primarily healthcare leaders. We offer solutions that appeal and adapt to the needs of all healthcare organizations, small and large practices, specialty clinics, care homes, and all private and government sector hospitals. CareCloud is a company that wants to empower all care givers and make their life and care delivery process easier.

We understand that for some generations, technology can be difficult to navigate, especially for those who are accustomed to using minimal technology and relying on human power. This is why CareCloud pays attention to technical support and care manager teams, and offers assistance for healthcare providers transitioning to complete automation and digitization.

The success stories I admire most are when solutions are customized and delivered to practices, as if they are built from scratch for them alone. Specialty clinics top this list. Although CareCloud has adapted to meet the changing needs of healthcare providers throughout the years, our goal has remained the same. We want healthcare leaders to feel the solution is built for their hospital/clinic, with their prime patients in mind. We focus on their biggest hurdles, deliver templates and filters that their staff needs, and prepare coding sheets only for the services they deliver.

I’m glad, so far, we have been successful in the goal and have thousands of happy clients across the U.S.

Tell us more about your software and services for health systems and hospitals in the ambulatory space, what impacts are these making, any scenarios to share with us?

CareCloud services are provider-centric solutions. They are built to make caregivers’ lives easier, while delivering high-quality, value-based care. We don’t pressure our clients to go all out and do multiple investments of all our major solutions. Instead, we offer free demonstrations and consultations to help providers select the technology that works best for their needs. It also helps our clients know exactly what they are signing up for, and we present technical and clinical support throughout their transition. Once installed, our software is interoperable with all major vendor electronic health records and practice systems, and we can assist with data transference.

I am happy that our hard work pays off, and that our happy clients bring us more recommendations. Practices of all sizes use CareCloud’s software support to enhance their facility’s revenues and improve staff performance. Just this year, CareCloud was recognized in a KLAS Research report in the small practice ambulatory EMR/PM category.

I believe care is a continuous process, which cannot be put to halt at any cost. This is why we provide a back-end team’s support that will work in the transition processes, while physicians can focus on care delivery.

How does CareCloud help reduce operational expenses? Tell us more about this and how it works?

Even though revenues are important for moderate-level businesses, managing operational expenses is even more crucial when a company expands. Over the years, CareCloud has dominated the U.S. healthcare market. With increasing competitors and healthcare technology constantly modifying, managing operational costs to maintain revenue versus high-performance ratio is our prime focus.

CareCloud was built with a motto of digitizing healthcare and shifting to cloud computing. This is the biggest cost-cutting mantra followed at CareCloud. Our chief operational officers and managerial teams persistently evaluate investments and efficiently perform, while remaining within the company expense margins.

COVID gave a boom to the telehealth market. Where do you see the future of this industry, and what role is CareCloud playing?

CareCloud has always focused on digitizing the healthcare market. Despite patient health information (PHI) and the lack of secure technologies hindering the incorporation of tech in healthcare, COVID has accelerated its adoption. We are glad a wider audience is now accepting technological solutions.

The future of the healthcare industry is bright, to say the least. I believe the coming ages will see an upsurge of technologies that strengthen data sharing, equitable access, and interoperability. In the coming years, I hope to see a more positive patient interference in care provision than there is today.

Tools like behavioral modifiers, human ability detectors, and decision controls are also expected to rise in healthcare technology in the next era. CareCloud is using an all-hands-on-deck approach to manage futuristic technologies and deliver accessible solutions, so that we can remain a leader in the healthcare IT industry.

What are you currently working on at CareCloud, and what is next on your road map, any opportunities for investors and partnerships?

As digital technologies are innovating, CareCloud is also developing solutions that leverage such technologies. We have a long way to go, and currently, our expert team is researching various new and exciting technologies. Our roadmap is clear. We constantly search for new ways to entitle healthcare leaders and make healthcare accessible for all. We envision building simpler, technology-empowered solutions for healthcare. We are always open to bringing investors on board who share our vision of digitizing healthcare within secure limits.
