Demand for Short-Range Radar to Remain Significantly High During the Forecast Period 2021 to 2031

Automotive Radar Market

If self-driving cars are to overcome their horribly difficult, onerous, and time-consuming limitations, the right automotive radar technology will need to make a significant breakthrough.

Cutting-edge and specialised automotive radars that can sense and adapt to an automobile’s surroundings in order to navigate notorious traffic jams could be the key to gaining a competitive advantage in the market.

The global automotive radar market is expected to reach US$ 7,260.8 Mn by 2031, up from US$ 2,000 Mn in 2021, according to a new report published by Fact.MR.

Automotive Radar Technology to be Improved by 4D Imaging Radars

Most self-driving cars have sensing suites with three types of sensors: Lidar, Radar, and Camera. Each of these systems has its own set of features and limitations.

Both Lidar and Camera, for example, lose their effectiveness when confronted with harsh environmental conditions such as darkness, pollution, snow, rain, and fog. Radar, on the other hand, has a lot of potential when it comes to keeping its functionality in bad weather and lighting.

Its low resolution, on the other hand, puts it at a significant disadvantage, preventing it from identifying small objects and increasing its susceptibility to false alarms. The missing link in autonomous vehicle development can be overcome by innovating and introducing ultra-high resolution technology such as 4D imaging.
