Dating Group Reveals its Plans for the Metaverse as Dating.com Opens the First Meta-Dating Space in Decentraland

Dating Group, a global social discovery company shaping the future of digital intimacy, has revealed it will invest nearly $20 million over the next five years as part of its expansion into the metaverse. Based on market intelligence by leading analysts, the company estimates the meta-dating space will be a $2 billion industry by 2026. Dating Group, which is now the world’s largest global dating company, with more than $300 million in annual revenue, 140 million users, 45 dating apps in its portfolio, and 100 countries covered by its products, plans to be the leader in the meta-dating space.

“The team at Dating Group has been at the forefront of social discovery and digital intimacy for more than two decades, helping people from across the globe forge meaningful connections, friendships, and romantic relationships,” said Dating Group Chief Strategy Officer KJ Dhaliwal. “And bringing our flagship site Dating.com into the metaverse is the next step of our evolution. We’re excited to be the first global dating company in Decentraland, and we’re looking forward to investing in other platforms soon.”

Dhaliwal, who says customer engagement and customer lifetime value are a top priority, also shared that the team at Dating Group has been at the forefront of social discovery and digital intimacy for more than two decades, helping people from across the globe forge meaningful connections, friendships, and romantic relationships. He added, “And bringing our flagship site Dating.com into the metaverse is the next step of our evolution. We’re excited to be the first global dating company in Decentraland and we’re looking forward to investing in other platforms soon.”

To celebrate Dating Group’s launch into the metaverse, Dating.com will host a huge wedding in Decentraland on September 23, whereby three real, international couples that captured each other’s hearts on Dating.com will be virtually married. The couples will be united in blockchain matrimony and will get an NFT certificate of their marriages. The metaverse ceremony will be held like a traditional wedding, with the couple’s friends and family, a formal dress code, as well as a priest to officiate. Those interested in attending can RSVP.

Dating Group believes dating in virtual reality via avatars will allow people to create connections without any of the materialistic, superficial factors or judgments that they might make or be subjected to in the external, physical world. People and their avatars can build relationships focused on personality, shared values, and common interests without any fear of wasting time and money on in-person dates.

“Our virtual dating space is a great place for singles to dip into dating for the first time. Making new connections and starting a new relationship can be intimidating, but dating in the metaverse allows singles to shed any insecurities they might feel while setting up a traditional online dating profile,” said Maria Sullivan, relationship expert and Vice President of Dating.com.
