Crypto Update: HSBC Rolls Out RedCoin to 3.3M PayMe Users as Remittix Plans Its Next PayFi Expansion
HSBC is rolling out its Hong Kong dollar-backed RedCoin to more than 3.3 million PayMe users, beginning with peer transfers and merchant payments. The launch places tokenised money inside an application consumers already understand. This Crypto Update shows stablecoin-style payments moving from specialist wallets into mainstream banking distribution.
Remittix is building the international bridge that RedCoin does not provide. Its PayFi product converts crypto into fiat delivered to normal bank accounts, with 41 additional currencies planned to widen available corridors. HSBC validates digital money locally, while Remittix can monetise the movement of value across borders and currencies.
Crypto Update Shows Banks Want Programmable Money
PayMe’s existing user base gives RedCoin immediate reach without requiring HSBC to teach millions of people a new interface. Consumers can transfer value through familiar accounts, while merchants gain another digital payment method. Distribution may matter more than the underlying blockchain terminology because adoption begins inside trusted financial relationships.
The product also demonstrates how tokenised deposits and stablecoins are converging with traditional banking. Faster movement, programmable settlement and continuous availability can improve the customer experience while banks retain their compliance and account relationships. That combination can normalise digital money for millions of consumers.
RedCoin is initially focused on Hong Kong-dollar activity within HSBC’s controlled ecosystem. It does not automatically solve the difficulty of moving crypto into dozens of local currencies or sending value to recipients outside one banking application and its existing geographic reach at all.
That limitation shapes this Crypto Update. Remittix targets interoperability between digital assets and ordinary bank accounts, allowing recipients to receive familiar fiat even if they never hold crypto or use a specialised payment platform themselves.
PayFi Can Convert Currency Coverage Into Network Effects
A Remittix sender can use crypto or stablecoins while the recipient receives local money in a bank account. That design tackles expensive remittance intermediaries, weak conversion rates and long settlement waits with an outcome anyone can understand.
Forty-one additional currencies can expand Remittix into many new consumer and business corridors. Every route increases the number of people the network can reach and creates additional opportunities for repeat transaction fees.
The iOS wallet has surpassed 10,000 downloads, giving PayFi an existing front end for onboarding. Users can store assets, access financial tools and send value from one interface instead of navigating disconnected exchanges and banking services. Each additional service can improve retention and reduce acquisition costs.
Markets has already produced more than $50 million in perpetual volume, while Earn can retain ETH and stablecoin deposits through leading DeFi pools. These services can generate revenue between payment events and raise the economic value of every acquired user.
RTX provides the common incentive layer. Enhanced Earn benefits can increase holding demand, 300 million tokens will be burned at launch and future product revenue can fund buybacks, linking PayFi expansion directly to a scarcer token supply.
The Bank-Connected Last Mile Remains Wide Open
Around $33 million has been raised from more than 40,000 Remittix participants, leaving approximately $3 million before its hard cap. RTX remains $0.28 before the announced $0.46 final stage and November 24 launch.
This Crypto Update confirms that banks want digital currency products, but HSBC’s rollout is geographically contained. Remittix can address the much broader problem of transferring digital value into usable fiat across dozens of countries and banking systems.
If 41 currencies turn PayFi into a global off-ramp, RTX could be valued as payment infrastructure rather than a presale token. The market may only recognise that distinction after the cheapest allocation and the first public repricing have already disappeared.
